30th year of dirt track racing
2004 was a terribly bittersweet, roller coaster year…
In March his race shop burned to the ground..he lost everything except the 2 race cars he was able to save (25 years of trophies and memorabilia were lost)
A month later his Mom died (Before she died she told Chub to keep racing.)
On the positive side…while researching the purchase of a new race shop he hooked up with Lester Buildings…who became a sponsor of his new shop.
He won the 34th Annual World 100 at Eldora…Late Model’s “Crown Jewel”…$37,000…at that event Earl Baltes announced his retirement.
Frank was inducted into the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame in 2004.
Chub’s parents promoted races at Eriez Speedway and State Line Speedway in Busti (pronounced” Bust Eye”), NY. The “other” racetrack in Busti was called “Satan’s Bowl of Death.”
Chub spent hours at the race tracks from the age of 4
State Line actually held a NASCAR Cup event in 1958 won by Shorty Rollins
Chub first raced at Stateline in 1978
He first raced a Late Model in 1985
Frank’s nicknames include “The Shoestring Traveler” and “Chubzilla”
Won 4 Straight Renegade DirtCar Championships (2000-03)
Won numerous track championships at Eriez and Stateline Speedways
Instead of the” Dupont Chevrolet”,..Chub drives the Lester Buildings, Corry Rubber, All Star Performance, Corry Laser, Slavic Corporation, Custom Race Engines, Rocket Chassis #1* Stacker 2 World of Outlaws Late Model Monte Carlo…
