  • Ultimate Factories
  • Go behind the scenes as Ultimate Factories explores manufacturing goliaths and brings to life some of the greatest one-of-a-kind factories in the world.

BMW
In the American south, nearly 500 robots and over 4,000 workers build BMW’s high-performance Z4 Roadster.  The factory builds more than 120 Z4 Roadsters every day.  Every Z4 in the world - even on that might be racing down the German autobahn right now - is built by BMW’s ultimate American factory.

CATERPILLAR
A truck the size of a two-story house - It’s the biggest mining truck in the world, the colossal 797 B, built in Decatur Illinois.

CORVETTE
We’ll visit the Corvette factory in Bowling Green Kentucky- where a Z06 is built from start to finish. Every Z06 engine is hand assembled by one builder and the structure of the sports car has been painstakingly crafted to be lightweight- with an all aluminum frame, carbon fiber fenders, a balsa wood floor and the first ever magnesium engine cradle.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON
At the Harley-Davidson factory in Kansas City, U.S., it is up to the engineers, designers and factory workers to ensure the V-Rod’s creative look can handle the high speeds for which it was designed while maintaining the signature Harley-Davidson style that consumers expect. Through cutting-edge CGI, factory footage and assembly worker interviews, Mega Factories: Harley-Davidson reveals the makings of one of the most revolutionary Harley-Davidson bike to date.

JOHN DEERE
Covering more than 300,000 square metres, the John Deere factory houses more than 2000 employees, 49 robotic welders, eight laser cutters and 14 kilometres of overhead track, all of which help stamp, press, cut and weld 60,000 tons of steel into the John Deere STS Combine - a harvesting mega-machine.

PETERBILT
At the Peterbilt factory in Texas, workers are busy building Model 387 trucks - titans of the road, made to pull vehicles weighing up to 36 tonnes. To produce this aerodynamic marvel, the Peterbilt design team partnered with its engineers to create the ideal full-scale model.

PIERCE FIRE TRUCKS
Pierce Manufacturing has created the ultimate fire truck: The 100-Foot Heavy Duty Ladder model.  This firefighting powerhouse is a jack-of-all-trades.  It can reach 100 feet, and shoot water jet at a blaze-busting two thousand gallons a minute.  Top it off with precision-point handling, breakthrough safety innovations, and superior suspension; and it’s taking the fire truck to high-tech heights.

WINNEBAGO
Winnebago is America’s motor home. People know to expect perfection from every motor home that is assembled in their 400,000 square foot factory in Forest City, Iowa. Here every inch of a Winnebago coach is built for life on the road. Inside and out it is carefully crafted and designed on a 1000 foot assembly line.
