THINK YOU KNOW STEVE BYRNES?
I have worked as a NASCAR broadcaster for 27 years.
After graduating from the University of Maryland in May 1981, I was hired at WJLA Washington,
D.C. WJLA sent me to WCIV in Charleston, SC.
It was there that I covered my first NASCAR race, the Southern 500 in Darlington. A friend
suggested I check out a job with a new show called "Inside NASCAR," with Ned Jarrett. I produced
and co-hosted from 1985-90. In 1995 I was hired by World Sports Enterprises, which produced live
Sprint Cup races for WTBS, TNN, and CBS.
In 2001, I joined the NASCAR on FOX team as a pit reporter and in 2003, I started hosting
"Trackside" on SPEED. I've been fortunate to work on a variety of shows at SPEED and now
"NASCAR RaceHub," which is truly a labor of love!
My wife, Karen, and I have a wonderful son, Bryson, and a crazy but sweet dog, Sumo.
