There was also some “monkeying around” on the race track Sunday and the end result was Kyle Busch has definitely met his match. The Juan Pablo Montoya and Kyle Busch incident was a classic case of two talented but hardheaded drivers going at it and I had a lot of fun watching them. I’ll never forget what Montoya said last year: “So, I wreck you? Get over it.”
I have never seen Montoya worry about points or where he finished in any given race. Most other drivers in the same situation would be devastated about losing points or possibly their ride. Juan is a great race car driver but he’s also comfortable in his own shoes. I wish I could be more like him in that respect. He never worries
If Kyle Busch wants to race Montoya aggressively, he must understand Montoya doesn’t care about points. If you go to war with Juan, you will come out wounded somehow or another. You may win the battle but you will probably lose the war.
This weekend’s race at Daytona will see its share of battles and wounded race cars. That’s just the nature of the beast. While a lot of people remember Daytona for its impressively horrific “Big Ones,” I remember it for something equally horrifying for me but good at the same time.
