VENTURINI: The ‘Real Deal’ with The Sadler Family at Darlington
Written by: Wendy Venturini
Charlotte, N.C.

Wendy Venturini "Elliott though passed him in height even though Hermie is six years older so that probably caused controversy in the teenage years."

Elliott Sadler "Very much because they are all very sports oriented. I had no idea, I don’t know what happened to Elliott, he just got fertilizer in his shoes and just grew."

Hermie Sadler "He outgrew me by the age of ten, he was taller than I was at that age but we had a lot of fun really. Even though there was an age difference we still had a load of fun and did a lot of stuff together."

Wendy Venturini "Did Mom ever have to break up fights between the two of you once you got taller than Hermie?"

Elliott Sadler " Well I don't think, I think we knew not to fight in front of her because if she ever told my dad, if she ever said you wait until your daddy
gets home we knew we were in trouble, so we never really pushed it that far. We would wait until she would leave then we would go back at it."

Wendy Venturini "They said they would never fight in front of you."

Elliott Sadler "Right, and they would never talk ugly but you could hear them in a room and I would open the door and they would just shut right up because they didn’t want me to hear what they were saying to each other."

Wendy Venturini "What part of Hermie’s career do you look at and say I’m so proud to be his mother?"

Elliott Sadler "Not only since he was born but from day one for his choices, his work with autism, his love of people and I guess his honesty. He doesn’t ever talk bad about people and he has always been that way so that has been just an all-over warming feeling for a Momma."
