TRUCKS: Randy Moss Blends Love of Pigskins and Fast Cars

“Next year is really going to be big for us because our goals are to come out with a veteran driver and run for the championship in the Craftsman Truck Series,” Dollar, who formed Morgan-Dollar Motorsports in 1998, said. “If we're successful in capturing the sponsorship dollars required, our intention is to run two full-time teams - the primary team, the No. 81 team, a salty veteran running for a championship, and the second team a bit of a driver development-type program, giving a younger driver an opportunity.”

Since the partnership in July, RMM has logged two top-10 and four top-15 finishes in eight starts. Moss brings more than money and celebrity to Dollar’s veteran NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team – he brings an innate desire to win.

“Randy Moss brings desire and a passion to compete to his NASCAR endeavor,” said Steve Byrnes, a NASCAR on SPEED host who has also covered the NFL for FOX Sports. “There is an honesty about performance that all great athletes share. That honesty will allow Randy Moss to look at his racing operation and ask a simple question ... ‘what do we need to do to improve?’

“The reverse was true of Joe Gibbs when he came from the NFL to NASCAR as team owner in 1992,” Byrnes continued. “What Joe Gibbs lacked in motor sports knowledge he made up for with the will to win. Coach Gibbs asked the right questions and wasn’t afraid to act on the answers. The objective, honest approach is what Moss will bring to his NASCAR experience.”

Moss realizes as a prominent athlete, he is in a unique and influential position to bring attention and notoriety to the Truck Series, while at the same time, potentially attracting valuable sponsorships
for his team. But sponsor or no sponsor, Moss has the mentality of a true racer and plans to get his team to the race track no matter what it takes.

“I am ready to take this all the way,” Moss said. “My door is open for any sponsor wanting to team up with Randy Moss Motorsports but at the same time, I am ready to keep this thing going myself.”
