PARTY HEARTY Although he only runs a partial Cup schedule, no one on the circuit is more fun than Brillo-headed Boris Said, a congenitally happy guy made even more so on Sunday by locking himself into the Daytona 500 field.
"I told everyone we were gonna go over to the Ocean Deck (a popular local watering hole) tonight and drink," Said vowed. "We were either gonna drink in sorrow, or we were gonna drink in celebration and now I'm cautiously optimistic it might be celebration."
QUOTE OF THE WEEK: "If every good, quality person I had wanted to go somewhere else, then it's just like the rats. When they're all gone, the captain better go, too, because they aren't going to make it. I didn't lose my rats. They're all packing up, and we're going to run good." – Robert Yates, on his employee turnover last year.
Honorable mention goes to 72-year-old James Hylton, who is trying to qualify for the Daytona 500, but was only 60th of 61 cars in time trials. "Didn't hit nothin'. It felt great," said Hylton.
