SOPHMORE SENSASTION David Ragan, driver of the No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford, had a rocky rookie season in 2007, but definitely has picked up his game this year. With four races to go until the field is set for the Chase for the Sprint Cup, Ragan sits 14th in points, just 89 markers out of the 12th and final Chase transfer spot.
Ragan said he isn’t surprised by his team’s improvement this season. “We knew from the get-go that if we made the right decisions and didn’t hurt ourselves that we would have the speed and have the team to be there,” said the Georgia native. “And
that’s why we’re here today, and that’s what we’ve got to stay focused on, trying not to make mistakes, trying to make good, wise decisions on pit road, and ultimately we’ll have a good day and get a little closer to that Chase.”
This weekend, Ragan has a good chance to gain points. In each of his two succeeding Michigan races, he’s improved over his prior finish, and MIS is Roush Fenway’s best track, a place where the team has a total of 10 victories. “We’ll bring a good car up there, and that should be a good track for us,” said Ragan.
