IN A WORD, NO Silly Season rumors have been dogging Jamie McMurray, suggesting that he would not return to Roush Fenway Racing in 2009 after two-and-a-half seasons that have been punctuated with far more disappointments than high points. McMurray, the defending race winner of the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Raceway, currently ranks 24th in Sprint Cup points, trailing teammates Carl Edwards (fourth), Greg Biffle (eighth), Matt Kenseth (13th) and David Ragan (17th). And McMurray’s No. 26 is the only one of the five Roush Fenway Fords not to qualify for the Chase for the Sprint Cup at least once since 2006, the year he joined the team.
But McMurray professed
