But no one would catch Kahne who drove to an improbable victory, after making the race only because he won the fan vote.
Earlier in the evening, Kyle Busch won the first segment but lost an engine in the second segment, which was won by Carl Edwards. Greg Biffle, Edwards’s teammate at Roush Fenway Racing, won the third segment.
Earlier in the evening, the Sprint Showdown last-chance race was won by AJ Allmendinger, who transferred into the main event along with second-place finisher Sam Hornish Jr. and Kasey Kahne, who made it in via the fan vote.
