KID STUFF Rookie Joey Logano will be back behind the wheel of the No. 96 Hall of Fame Racing Toyota this weekend at Kansas Speedway, where he will attempt to qualify for his second NASCAR Sprint Cup start in the Camping World RV 400. Logano has lots of laps at 1.5-mile tracks, but many are at Kentucky Speedway, not Kansas.

“I’ve got plenty of laps at Kentucky and I’ve heard Kansas is similar,” said the 18-year-old Logano, who will have to qualify on speed for the race. “I tested there in an ARCA car three years ago, but I don’t remember much about it. In my old age, I have a hard time remembering stuff. I think it’ll be all right. I think it’s a track that will suit me. The 1.5-mile tracks have been good to me in the Nationwide Series, so hopefully we can transfer that over to the Cup cars.”

SHRUBTASTIC Coming off horrific finishes
of 34th and 43rd in the first two races of the Chase for the Sprint Cup, Kyle Busch said it’s time to let it all hang out and try to add to his series-high total of eight Cup victories, rather than obsess about points.

“I think it goes without saying that Dover was really disappointing,” said Busch, who is 210 points behind leader Carl Edwards. “But at this point, we just need to go out and win races and get back to doing what we’ve been doing all year long. There’s really no sense in looking at the points right now. Lots of things can happen between now and Homestead. This M&M’s team has never quit all year long and we’re not going to start now. We’re going into these last eight races with absolutely nothing to lose. There’s no pressure, really. Every week, when we unload at the track, we’ll be looking for nothing else but a win.”
