Stewart was replaced midway by relief driver J.J. Yeley, who did a terrific job in a car he had not driven before until getting clobbered at the end of the race. “For me, it’s a big disappointment,” said Yeley, who failed to qualify in his normal ride, the Hall of Fame Racing Toyota. “The Home Depot team had a really, really good race car. … We were going to have a good finish. At the end, I chose to go to the bottom and the No. 55 (Michael Waltrip) got right up behind me and got me loose.”

“J.J. did a good job there,” said Stewart’s crew chief, Greg Zipadelli. “We just got shuffled at the end — it’s kind of been like our year. We got in a wreck twice there. I don’t know what to say. We had a lot better race car than what we finished tonight. We just don’t seem to do anything right to turn it around.”

As for Busch, he was asked if he was worried about burning through his good luck too early in the season. “Well, I hope not,” he said. “I've had some good times in the past couple years, but nothing that's ever been as lucky as this. … This year, or the past couple years, the 18 car has not been so great with luck, and the 11 (Hamlin) and the 20 (Stewart)
seem to have it. So fortunately it's kind of turned a little bit and unfortunately for those guys, fortunately for this team, but still a big part of Joe Gibbs Racing and that's what matters most is to be able to get these three cars running well.”

As for the rest of the season? “Hopefully we don't wear it out,” was all Busch said.
