Over the ensuing laps, Reed and Windham would make like an accordion, and Reed began to chase Windham through the top-five riders. With only a couple of laps left in the main, Windham made the pass on Short for the lead, while Reed sat fourth, behind two of Windham’s fellow Honda racers -- Davi Millsaps and Short.

Unfortunately for Windham, Millsaps and Short couldn’t put up much of a fight and they succumbed to the pressure from Reed -- Short doing so in the last few turns. For the second week in a row, Windham took the win but Reed minimized his points loss and finished second.

Going into the Las Vegas finale on May
3rd, Windham trails Reed by 10 points, meaning that in order for Windham to win the championship, he must win the race and hope that Reed finishes seventh or worse. Any finish inside the top six for Reed will land him the championship.

“It’s nice to win another race, but I sure wish I could’ve made up more points than that -- again,” Windham said. “Oh well. Has Chad finished seventh or worse this year? He has? Okay, then! Let’s go to Vegas!”
