Kopp shoved his way into the lead by lap 10, but could not shake the determined Wiles. The two heavyweights exchanged the lead several times, but Kopp kept coming back to the front. With just two laps left Wiles once again took the lead, but Kopp tried to square off Turn 2, coming under and alongside Wiles as the two headed for the "one line" jump.
"I was alongside and I gave him the choice of hitting the grass or backing off," said Kopp. "He hit the grass and made it work."
Wiles came off the jump with the lead and held on for one more lap and the win. "That was a great race, I really like a race like that better than a race that I run away with," said Wiles. "I can say that since I'm on top of the box."
"That was a great race, the only thing that makes me mad is I couldn't get up there and run with them," said Carr of this third place finish.
Smith was able to come away with fourth over Burton, KTM USA / Corbin Seats / Florey Racing / King Racing's Aaron King, American Harley-Davidson / Dick Ford / R&J Racing's Rob Pearson, Bettencourt's Honda / Spectro's Kenny Coolbeth, Memphis Shades / Yamaha / Parts Unlimited's Sammy Halbert and Schnabel rounding out the top ten.
Shift / A&A Racing's Chad Cose passed local rider Rob Pearson / Pearson Racing / Dave's Body Shop's Justin Hittle to win the Pro Sport Main. Sun Coast Resources / Utility Trailer Sales / K's Motorsports' Sammy Sweet had retired from his National Number 60 ride before his two podium mates were born, but it hasn't stopped the Texan from making a big comeback. Sweet reeled in Hittle late in the race as Cose pulled away to a small
Van's Yamaha & Polaris / Governor French Academy's Justin Hanna and Mom & Dad / Doug Buchda / Jumpers Bar's DJ Slosser rounded out the top five.
