Formula Xtreme Podium Press Conference Quotes:

Jake Zemke, Erion Honda, 1st Place

“You know it's going to be that way all year long. Josh (Hayes) is a great rider. And Larry (Pegram) was just right there on that bike. Like I said on the podium -- it's so loud. It's all I could hear is the Ducati. I couldn't even hear my own motor.

“No, it was a really good race and I expect it to go on that way all year long. We were having the same type of race at Barber until Josh unfortunately fell. And I think pretty much, unless somebody's got a problem, that's what everybody's going to see all year long. And it's really great. It's great for the sport and it's great for the fans to see two guys going at it, three guys this weekend. Hopefully Larry can be up there every weekend or the Kawasaki boys or somebody. You know it always makes it a lot more fun when you've got more players in the game.”

Josh Hayes, Erion Honda, 2nd Place

“That was an amazing race. Yeah, it was a good race. The pace is upped so much since last year it’s pretty amazing. What can I say? It was just such a great close race and I think it’s to be expected all year. Jake’s a great talent and he’s on the same bike that I won the championship on and he’s riding it well and we always knew he could. So I'm expecting a lot of this, this year. Fortunately Dunlops come through for both of us. You know our crew does such a great job. They prepped this perfect motorcycle so we can come out here and race for the win. Really excited about it.”

“Oh, I think, the only thing was I got a really good run on Jake and I really thought I had it, but Jake had been riding down on the flat, which nobody’s been on all weekend. There’s a lot of rocks and dirt and that down there. I just pulled out too early, I think. I was still a little ways back from Jake when I pulled out and I had some momentum, but just not quite enough. And 0.013 is not enough.”

Larry Pegram, LeoVince Foremost Insurance Ducati Team, 3rd Place

“It was an interesting race. They were going at it pretty good and they both seemed to be fairly even. Jake was leading and I thought from the lap times he was doing and what I was doing yesterday on race tires, I thought I wasn’t going to be able to probably run with him, maybe stay with him five or six laps. But then I was able to up my pace and they didn't up theirs. I was able to run their pace, so that was good.

“And then I was like, ‘uh, I'm catching them in some places, they're getting me in some places. I might be able to make a run at these guys,’ and then Josh made a mistake and he graciously let me by. That was nice of him. I was like OK, now I'm going to make a move on Jake. And as soon as I did that, here comes Josh. He kind of knew the same thing; if you’re in third there's nowhere to go with two guys battling. So I don't know that I could've finished any better than I did, but I'm happy to be basically right behind him and knowing that we can run with them now. Now we’ve got to make some more improvements to that Ducati 848 and start scaring them a little more.”
