Supersport Podium Quotes

Ben Bostrom, Graves Motorsports Yamaha, 1st Place

"Pretty eventful in the first few laps there. I didn't get the best of starts and there was just action. It looked so cool. We were three abreast going into two and, maybe four, I'm not sure. But it was all different colors, you know, so it was pretty neat to see. I got around Jake there, got around Josh -- Josh ran a little wide in the Carousel. Next was Eslick, you know. I was like, 'man, Danny's riding strong'. I don't know where I'm going to get him and we got a pretty good run at him there so we snuck by.

"I tried to put my head down. I was like, ah, this is a good pace, let's see if they hang on. And man those guys pushed me to the end so it was fantastic.
"This is by far the best podium I've seen all year and probably in a long time. It's just a really a good group of guys on three different brands. So it's pretty cool, yeah. But the R6 is so strong, it's going to be hard to beat. Honestly. I know the next track is Miller, so it's lot of straightaways, be a lot of drafting. I'm saving the battle for there -- that's where it's really coming. I know you guys can understand this. Battle at Miller, to be continued… something like that."

Jake Zemke, Erion Honda, 2nd Place

"Yeah, it was good until Ben got up there and started pulling away. Nah, it was a good race. As I said on the podium, I got off the line really good and I forgot to shift into second gear. I ran the thing right to the rev limiter and Danny went by and then Herrin went by on the outside. I kind of ran us up a little bit going into two and Ben came up the inside of me in two. We ran about three wide going into three and there's nowhere to go and so I was kind of caught up on the inside and that let Blake Young come around the outside. I dug myself a deep hole in the beginning of the race. Took a while to get around those guys and Danny was setting a good pace at the front and Ben got by him and I knew I had to get up there and get by Danny to try and chase Ben down. I told Ben he should have waited for me so we could've had a better race, but he didn't seem to think that was a good idea."

Danny Eslick, Matsushima Suzuki, 3rd Place

"Coming into here was just having to move forward. We've been making progress all year long starting with Daytona. Last year was kind of a bit of a rough year, so we started off steady and keep working our way forward. Qualified third, finished third.
"The race itself was pretty exciting. I'm not used to leading these things. It's kind of fun being up front. You never know who's going to come through. I knew these guys were for sure, I just didn't want to let anybody else come through. So I didn't have any big moments, I lost the front once in the same place I almost crashed in qualifying in Turn 2. So other than that, it was pretty uneventful except for Benny kind of scared me, he was going by so fast.

Superstock Podium Quotes

Jake Holden, Corona Honda, 1st Place

"This one is kind of like
the Laguna win at the end of last year. It got cut short with a red flag and that’s not how I want to win a race, but you’ve got to have some luck on your side sometimes to win. I guess we had some luck. My crew worked hard and we came out right off the bat and were cutting some good times here in practice and I knew it was going to be a good race between me and the Jordan boys. I saw Aaron got a gap at the start and I made it up a little bit and I didn’t know if he was trying to set the race pace or not, but I got out front and I could still hear him the whole race. I knew he would try and make a move at the end so I was trying as hard as I could not to make any mistakes. I made a couple and then started charging and I think we were doing some '37.5s or '4s, real consistent and they were still there so I knew it was going to be a good race at the end. It got cut short."

Aaron Yates, Jordan Suzuki, 2nd Place

"The race was pretty good. I got off to a really good start and tried to put my head down and make a breakaway if I could and see what would happen. I had a really good first couple of laps. I don’t know if I got any break or not, but they caught right back up to me. I kinda eased up a little bit. I got into turn seven a little hot and Jake snuck under me. We went down through there and I decided I wasn’t going to let him have it and we tried to go down through the esses side by side and it just wasn’t too good of an idea, so I backed off and let him go.

"I rode behind Jake for awhile and then it seemed like he slowed down just a little bit there and he caught a couple of false neutrals out there that helped me out. Kept me close. I thought I could maybe make a move on him that last time coming out of the chicane to turn 11,but he gathered it up and got in there pretty deep and I couldn’t get close enough to make a move. I thought I could try and do something and felt like the lappers might help me out there toward the end. It can go either way with the lappers and I was hoping for a little luck, but the race got cut short and we ended up second."

Geoff May, Jordan Suzuki, 3rd Place

“We worked really hard on the setup this weekend and we were right there with 'em. I was sitting on them the whole race trying to plan out where I was going to make a move. I felt like I was stronger on the brakes everywhere. The only problem was I really couldn’t get off turn seven as well as these guys. But I’d make it up by the time we got down to the chicane and the same thing around the backside of the tower. It seemed like Aaron and Jake were both able to squirt of the corners a little better. I still felt like I had it at the end and I felt really strong. I was hoping to put a last-lap pass on both of them in the last corner or capitalize on them battling. I knew it was getting close to the end and it just didn’t pan out for us with the red flag there. It looked like Aaron was just sitting there trying to save his tire and not charging too hard. I was just waiting for things to pan out a little bit."
