Stewart now leads the championship by a full 120 points with four rounds left to run. If his unbeaten streak continues through Washougal next weekend, and his teammate Ferry has some trouble (losing at least 30 points to Stewart), Stewart could wrap up his title three rounds early (needing at least a 150-point lead to do so).

“If I said I wasn’t thinking about this race a lot, I’d be lying,” Stewart said. “When I fell, I thought Unadilla was going to take another one
from me, but it worked out. It was good.”

In the Lites class, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto was also sitting on quite a win streak, having won the previous 13-straight motos coming into Unadilla. Last year, Villopoto DNF’d a moto when a rock flew through one of his radiators and knocked him out of the race. In moto one, MDK KTM’s Martin Davalos took the holeshot, followed closely by Rockstar/Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey, Villopoto and the rest of the field.
