Birthplace: Utica, NY (But I really grew up in Sacramento, Ca.)
Birthdate: Aug. 23, 1964
Full Name: Ralph Anthony Sheheen
Current Residence: Mooresville, NC
High School: Jesuit High School (Sacramento)
College: California State University Chico
Wife/Children: Kimberly (wife), Olivia and Lucas
What do you do for Speed: I am On Air Talent for Speed. I have covered almost every form of racing on the network at one point in time or another. Right now I am focusing on Supercross, AMA Road Racing, Moto G-P, the Knoxville Nationals, Star Mazda, the Speed Report and whatever else they throw my way.
Past Jobs: I really only had one or two jobs outside of broadcasting. At one point I was a busboy at the Red Robin restaurant. However, I spent a lot of time on the PA at race tracks throughout California.
Resume: I have worked for almost every network that has covered racing. It all began with ESPN for my first job right out of college covering the IMSA Camel GT Series. I have also worked for ESPN 2, Sports Channel America, Prime Network, Fox Sports South, Speed, TNN, TBS, TNT, NBC and CBS. I have broadcast everything from Swamp Buggies for TNN to Formula One for CBS.
Worst Moment In Your Career: The most embarrassing moment was when I could not remember driver Todd Forbes name live on the air during the opening stand up on a TNN ASA race. I got it perfect just two minutes before during rehearsal. He did not have his name on his uniform or above the door of the car so I told you everything you could ever want to know about Todd except his name. I eventually put a period on it and moved on to Bob Sennaker. His name I remembered.
Favorite Movie: Probably Caddyshack or Animal House. Something where you get a good laugh and remember all of the lines. Le Mans does not have much dialogue in the first 15 minutes, but its awesome as far as the racing movies are concerned.
Favorite Song: I do not have just one song that is a favorite, but I love Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. Bands like Aerosmith, AC/DC, KISS, Judas Priest, Ozzy, Skid Row, Metallica, Led Zeppelin etc.
Favorite Sport: Racing is number one but I enjoy stick and ball sports as well, especially football.
Favorite Driver/Rider: Mario Andretti, Don Prudohmme and Dale Earnhardt Sr. in the driver category. For riders I always loved the era of the 500cc World Championship that included Freddie Spencer, Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey and Kevin Schwantz. They were all incredible!
If You Could Visit Anywhere In The World, Where Would It Be: Probably a race track. I still have not been to Le Mans. A European Grand Prix would be cool, both two and four wheels, and I would love to check out Goodwood someday. I still need to make it to Sturgis as well.
What Do You Love The Most About Your Job: I get to travel to the best races in the world. Meet the biggest names in the sport and then sit down with one of the sports leading experts and call the race for the fans. Its an incredible opportunity and I truely do know how lucky I am. Whats not to love about that.
Describe A Typical Day In Your Life: I try to spend as much time as I can with my family when I am not at the track. But racing is always a part of our daily life. I am constantly doing homework for the next event, talking to someone about racing, on the computer, etc.
Hobbies: Motorcycling and skiing.
What Was Your First Car: 1973 Buick Gran Sport with a 455. A late generation muscle car.
Have You Ever Competed In A Race, Amateur or Professional: I was a co-driver one year at the Baja 1000 and we took second in Class 7 4x4. I also ran two seasons in the Summer Shootout at the Lowes Motor Speedway in a Thunder Roadster. I finished 10th in points the first year and eighth the next out of 30 drivers.
Your Dream Car: Something red and Italian, either a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. i am just 5 numbers and a powerball away.
One Thing Most People Do not Know About You: I own a Dave Perewitz customized Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. Its slammed, raked, chromed and flamed from one end to the other.
Do You Have A Favorite Saying or Philosophy: "If you say you can you will. If you say you can not you will not."
Heather Locklear or Pamela Anderson: My wife.
Robert DeNiro or Al Pacino: There both fantastic.
Coke or Pepsi: Pepsi.
Ford or Chevy: Chevy. We have a C-5 Corvette and a Tahoe. I also have a Cadillac CTS-V. Anything with four doors, a Corvette Z-06 engine producing 400hp, a six speed and a baby seat is okay with me!
