Dave Nichols is the editor of two of America’s leading motorcycle magazines (including V-Twin), and has decades of motorcycle riding experience. His extensive experience and knowledge of the custom bike scene have been tapped for numerous TV Specials for A&E, the History Channel, and Discovery Channel. And Dave was drafted as a consultant on both Motorcycle Mania and the recent Biker Build-Off series on Discovery.
Nichols has authored two books about the custom motorcycle world for MotorBooks International: Top Chops , featuring seven of the world’s master bike builders; and Biker Shaman: the Life of Indian Larry .
Dave was inspired to start riding motorcycles at the tender age of fifteen, after watching Then Came Bronson on television and seeing Easy Rider at the local movie house. After getting a degree from the University of Miami, he worked in television and motion picture production for over fifteen years on both sides of the camera.
In 1991 his love of custom motorcycles led him to Paisano Publications as the editor of VQ and Early Riders motorcycle magazines, as well as Tattoo Flash and Tattoo Savage. After a short stint with Microsoft, Dave returned to Paisano in 1998 as the editor-in-chief of Easyriders and V-Twin magazines, the largest-selling, and fastest growing motorcycle magazines in the world, respectively.
Dave lives in Seattle, Washington with his wife Diane, their son William, and a very confused dog named Reggie.
