Looks like mainly for the car market. Jordan Suzuki sponsored by the National Guard and VW anyone?

I thought I read articles this summer where Volkswagen was interested in purchasing a motorcycle manufacturer “complete” their product lineup? Maybe bikes are more part of it than they are letting on.

I didn't know that Suzuki had such a big market share in India.
Anyway, if this passes, maybe we'll see a VW logo on Suzuki bikes via sponsorship. Suzuki pretty much pays the entire tab now anyway.

I don't think Volkswagen is trying to buy Suzuki's motorcycle division, at least not directly. What they want is a share of Suzuki's Asian automobile business. Will Volkswagen end up sponsoring -- or running -- Suzuki's racing bikes? One never knows...

Well, they're buying into Suzuki Motor Corp, which includes both their autos and motorcycles.
I'll agree that they're most interested in the car division.

Still, it would be fun to see "Volkswagen" (Volksrad?) bikes duking it out with the BMWs in WSB. Now all we need to do is persuade Fiat (Valentio Rossi's sponsor) to buy Ducati or Yamaha and send a "Fiat" bike into battle...
Mind you, it would be a back-of-the-grid battle, while the legit Honda and Kawasaki teams are runnning off into the far distance, but hey, it would at least be amusing. Maybe General Motors or Ford should buy up Buell and enter a bike with their brand, too. (wink!)
