Jr"s Facebook said Danica is now testing.

Her and Eury Jr. tested in Orlando at the Disney track. According to Mike Davis, she did pretty well.

It's good for her to get Tony Jr. as a CC he knows the cars and probably more important in this case he can deal with the circus that is sure to come.
Yeah. I was wondering if the job is a reward or a penalty.

Or payment.
(referencing Jr giving Tony partial ownership of JRM.)

I don't think how Danica does will affect serious female candidates in terms of finding rides in NASCAR, the key word being "serious".
Danica is all about "branding", and marketing herself. Otherwise, why show up at a press conference dressed the way she was - those shoes don't look like they'd be OSHA approved for inside a racecar.
If a Chrissy Wallace, for example, shows talent behind the wheel, I don't see why Danica doing poorly in NASCAR would hurt her chances of moving up through the stock car ranks. As long as she positions herself as a "racer", and not as a "personality", if anything it might be easier to get a shot.
Oh, and as an aside for those of you using her as an example of doing everything wrong, apparently the new Mrs. Evernham will be running some Sprint Cup races in 2010 according to her Twitter account.

I removed the 1st part out of

.
Sorry to say this because I always thought she was gonna do something, but Erin reinforced every stereo type in the world and IMO let a potential career go away for a marraige to RE. Maybe she can get her head together, run for someone else and actually have to prove herself, and show something.

Eric Crocker-Evernham is not going to racing in the Sprint Cup. She put together a part time deal to race Sprint CARS.
This is from her Twitter:
"is super excited to go sprint car racing in 2010 with @skiprec!"

Yes only women in "sensible shoes" should be taken seriously.
Sorry PS but your sounding rather provincial there my friend.
If we look at the the signing fads NASCAR there should be a rush to sign women after seeing the attention Danica will get. It will be sustained if she has any success at all. Good examples are the signing of young drivers straight to cup fad on the heals of Kyle. or the signing of OW guys after Montoya more recently

Nah - I just didn't like those shoes. I never did like the gladiator style, although they do look somewhat better with heels than the flat variety.
Honestly, she has a choice, and has chosen to market herself as a celebrity rather than as a driver. I hope she backs it up on the track, but its such a big change from Indy cars to stock cars, and it remains to be seen whether she can transition or not. She's put herself in a position to be examined under a microscope, and it'll be interesting when the Cup guys are passing her high and low at the same time to see how she handles it, especially in the beginning.
