He sure did. And in a cloud of smoke as well.

Mercer should have have pitted when Kyle did for those last 50 or so laps...Mercer could have gave Kyle a run for it. But Kyle had the tires and the car.

Anyone else go?

What exactly happened on the last lap anyway? The radio announcers seemed a bit confused and so was I.

Two cars...I think the 72 and 09 (I could be wrong...have to go back and look at the pictures) got togther in turn 4 as Kyle was going into turn 3 for the checkered.

I was sitting in the turn one stands. Kyle disappeared into the smoke, one car went into the inside wall on the front strait, then I saw the 72 all beat up just burping all sort of smoke with Kyle in tow. It was something to see.

Kyle didn't do any kind burn out...I guess they didn't give him a chance or probably still shaking over the finish. I still feel bad for Mercer though. If he just pitted for new tires. Talk is, or was that this may be Mercer's last race...retire.

Thanks! Sure would have been nice to get some TV for that race.

Drivers were told in the meeting NOT to do any burnouts. Something about post-race inspections? At least that is what the radio announcers said.

That is funny...

Great job by Kyle and the KBM team..
I grew up in Pensacola and attended many Snowball Derbys... Loved it. It is great to "watch" all the action on Speed51.com. Hopefully SPEED Channel may air one of these events ! That would be so great...
Have to give a Thata' boy to Wayne "Junior" Niedecken on his top ten finish this year. He was my favorite back in the day. Actually graduated high school a year earlier than me.. I remember him skipping graduation ceremony (or leaving early) to make it to Five Flags to race... drove the 98 back then.. His dad was in the 99. Anyway that's enough of memory lane. Speaking of which, there was a guy from Mobile named Rat Lane... oh never mind...

Must have been dirt back then with those names you mentioned. "Back in the day" is when you were good and knew it.
