V8 Supercars Australia has announced a major new international television deal, in association with FOX Sports USA, today.
The new partnership will see the V8 Supercar Chamopionship Series broadcast on the SPEED network for the next three years a weekend after each event.
The new deal is a massive improvement on past broadcasting. The V8s were not shown at all during the regular season – only replayed at the conclusion of the NASCAR Sprint Cup series.
SPEED is available through the FOX Cable Networks which has more than 79 million subscribers in North America. The vision will be available to all North American subscribers.
SPEED is the motorsport’s authority for NASCAR, Formula One MotoGP, AMA Supercross, the American Le Mans Series, the Rolex Grand American Sports Car Series and many other motorcycle and auto racing series.
Speedcafe understands that Australian ex-pats Leigh Diffey and Marcos Ambrose are likely to head up the coverage.
“V8 Supercars is one of the most exciting forms of auto racing in the world today,” FOX Sports Chairman David Hill said.
“It is fabulous to watch and I’m happy that we’ve been able to develop this new partnership with SPEED.”
V8 Supercars Australia Executive Chairman Tony Cochrane, said the deal was a huge milestone for V8 Supercars international recognition.
“This is a fantastic and exciting relationship for V8 Supercars,” he said.
“There is no question that SPEED in North America is the foremost network with regards to motorsport coverage and is the pinnacle platform in our sport; to be held in such regard by this highly professional organisation is a great testament to the quality of our television coverage and our racing.”
SPEED’s coverage of V8 Supercar will kick off with next weekend’s Sydney Telstra 500.

Good job Speed
It looks like BTCC and DTM will be on this winter, as well... at least, if the website schedule is right.

Its still B.S. that they are not showing it live. I guess Pinks, Monster Jam, and Wrecked are more important to them than actuall racing.

Just avoid Australian TV and other news from down under. That should be relatively easy to do.
People whine when we don't have this stuff and find an excuse to cry when we get it. Unbelievable!
