Tho races are scheduled for The Milwaukee Mile, events have turned for the worse concerning the track.

perhaps you could've titled it milwaukee mile, or monster mile, or magic mile...

IMO, it's too flat for stock cars, anyway...

What's that supposed to mean? HUH... Same thing applies to both Martinsville and New Hampshire. Guess what, they all put on a great show.

I guess there's just no pleasing people, no wonder so many tracks are 1.5 milers.

hhmmm... martinsville... demolition derby...
new hampshire... parades
if you like state fairs and associated parades, then I guess you like those awful tracks... not me... I like tracks with room to run 2 wide for laps at a time and not have to "MOVE" a car to pass it...
I rest my case

I go back to 1956 in seeing racing at The Milwaukee Mile. My brother and I had season tickets for that track, so long as USAC was the sanctioning body. We saw 4 stock car races and two Indy Car races per year. I will grant you that you do not see side by side racing lap after lap. But, at that track, the best driver with the best car is going to work his way to the front. I am biased, but, I think The Milwaukee Mile is the greatest track in the U.S. I have proof of the best driver at Milwaukee.

I'll agree the milwaukee mile is better than the magic mile (both flat), but realize those stockers in the 50's and 60's were going about 30-40 mph slower, and then they could negotiate it...

When I first started going to The Milwaukee Mile, the roadster Indy Cars, were just barely breaking 100 mph in qualifying. Today, what, an Indy Car qualifies at 150-160 mph. Yet, at the slower speeds that the roadsters ran, I seen some great "racing."

I understand that... I grew up a Foyt fan so I know how great it was... but the speeds have outgrown what pavement's available... speed does not make great racing, controllability and the ability to race side by side does... the current speed has made that impossible.. unfortunate victim... too bad they probably can't / couldn't afford a re-pave with progessive banking...
to me, that progressive banking is the best thing I've seen for good racing... it's made Bristol tolerable, and Homestead awesome, IMO

What is with this side by side stuff. Go to any short track, and you will not see this side by side stuff. Yet, no one can argue that short tracks do not produce great racing.

eh... personal preference... I like the Michigans and atlantas where there fastest car can get around slower cars without wrecking them... I'm not a short track fan... bring it back with the fenders clean, please......

Well, at Milwaukee, a faster car can get around a slower car, without wrecking him.
