Good question. It also begs the question of what, exactly, is a "production bike?"
Whatever Buell rolled out of the pits on a given day. However, that interpretation was only applicable to one brand. All of the evil Japanese bikes had to actually produce bikes in sufficient quantity or race the previous year's bike. Seeing that the "golden egg" that was Buell is gonzo (kinda) then it'll be interesting to see who the chosen one is this year. Has anyone looked to see if Fischer is planning on racing DMG this year?

I was stunned that Eslick is not going to have the #1 plate on either a XR 1200 or Fischer next season.

Last I heard the Fischer was gonna run a Korean knock-off of the SV-650 motor -- no way could it race competitively in any existing DMG class.

The 1125r wouldn’t have been competitive under the `08 rules. Following the rules are the least of Edmondson‘s concerns.
