I said it before, as long as Keselowski and Hornish and Robby are on the same track, ANYTHING can happen. Heck just look at the starting lineup. Scott Speed is outside Jimmie for the start. Looking at practice, the high line is the place to be, good chance Speed will get by Jimmie on lap 1. Mark's right behind Speed. Jimmie could very easily get aero loose on low tire pressure trying to get 5 points for leading. Don't believe me, think it's far-fetched? Ask Hornaday how it went for him at Phoenix last season on lap 1.

Until the race is over, I'll reserve judgment.

Jimmie has the choice of which lane he'd like to take.

No offense to Hornaday, but he and Jimmie drive nothing alike.

Haven't you gotten the slightest bit tired of hearing "Anything can happen..." ?

Not as tired as hearing he already won his 4th straight. wink

Biggest story:

Declining ratings, declining tickets sales and yet NASCAR does nothing to stimulate fans interest. No acknowledgment by NASCAR that there is an issue either.

*cough* Double File Shoot Out Restarts *cough*
that does nothing but create dramatics for 2 laps. It does nothing to fix the car problems. GWC finishes also created the same disgusting demolition derby finishes that every other series with a GWC rule has. I am glad however that lapped cars are no longer in the way up front. However I am a firm believer that good racing cant be created with new rules. Double file restarts and green, white, checkered finishes do not creat good racing or good races. Essentially the more rules there are the less any actual racing takes place. What would create good racing is...nascar getting off the teams toes and letting them build cars and race! Really at the way things are going its like an IROC series except its "BYOC" bring your own car!

I am going with the positive. Last winter there was many predictions of fields of less then 43 cars and fans would not be able to afford to go to the races.

Considering the economy I think things went pretty well.

If it wasn't for the $100 billion bail out for the auto manufacturers I doubt NASCAR would of finished the season. NASCAR is just lucky that the automakers are strong lobbyists. Unfortunately, the bail out will hurt us all in the end.

LOL While I will totally agree that the fed shouldnt be giving out money to businesses I find it hilarious that you think nascar would crash do nothing without chevy or dodge. Manufacturers have come and gone from nascar for decades. We heard the same thing when Dodge left before. Nascar did swell for many years with only 2 manufacturers GM and Ford. They could do just the same with Toyota and Ford. There are really only 2 significant GM teams left which is ironic considering 10 or 15 years ago GM was 2/3 of the field. The 2 teams are HMS(with Stewart-Haas) and RCR. Both of which would be getting calls from Toyota and Ford within 45 seconds of GM announcing a withdraw from nascar

Biggest Story?
Has to be "NASCAR's What to Watch" recommendations:

Conflict?
The final Cup Series race this Sunday is on the same day as something less predictable, and more exciting.

Resolution:
Watch the Detroit Lions/Cleveland Browns game instead.

Another "What To Watch" recommendation brought to you by: NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series!

biggest story of the season.. Marcos Ambrose getting loose on the inside of Jimmie Johnson coming off turn 4 lap 1 and knocking Jimmie into the wall backwards, tearing out the rear end housing... Mark Martin driving to a 4th place finish and his first championship.

big story right there.. huge

even bigger- Jimmie Johnson getting out of his car and kicking the crap out of Marcos on the track.. setting up 2010 for it's biggest ratings year ever

Now now, although it'd be great for ratings and probably pick Johnson (and Ambrose) a lot fans, it'd give poor J. a heart attack. Could you imagine that? Her favourite driver losing the championship, and Nascar forced to penalize Jimmie next year for actions detrimental to stock car racing.

I watched my favorite driver lose the championship for four years before he finally won, thank-you-very-much. I can handle it now, since everybody has finally recognized their greatness, although they had to drag many people kicking and screaming before they finally reached that conclusion. I, on the other hand, recognized their potential greatness from the start, and was very frustrated that it wasn't being universally recognized by everyone else, too. smile

It would, however, distress me to see Jimmie kicking the crap out of Marcos because I would wonder who had slipped what into his water bottle. Jimmie is simply a really nice guy, and it's not in him to do something like that. Plus, I really like Marcos, and it's unlikely he'd put himself in that situation.

Now, if it was Hornish, or Speed, or Ragan, I could see it... and I'd actually wish that Jimmie would give them a swift kick in the pants, however unlikely it was to happen...

People ask me all the time, where does he stack up, comparatively?  I’ve seen every great driver drive, I’ve seen every great driver win their championships.  In my mind, this driver, this crew chief, this team is the all time best - bar none.  I saw Petty, I saw Earnhardt, I’ve seen Gordon, I’ve seen Bill Elliott, Rusty Wallace, Terry Labonte, this is the best.”- DW on Jimmie Johnson

Less predictable? More exciting? As a Michiganian, watching the CoT run around Miami is infinetly more exciting than watching the NFL's 2 biggest jokes battle to a 7-7 tie and remain the jokes they both are. tongue wink

What is this 1979 Daytona 500? LOL or longing for actual racing...To be honest that finish wouldn't bother me in the least, not that I am bashing on JJ, just that Mark Martin I believe should get the championship. I also believe that Nascar is so over saturated and bloated its will not survive in it current state. Its turning into IRL/Cart, with the exception that there isn't an option of a breakaway, only the alienation of fans who dispise the car and the track product is terrible, snooze fests, and a sprint of 20-30 laps. this final race is just another cap to a boring, season. so what for SHR, and double-file restarts, saturated tv product, and everything, Nascar is too entrenched with sponsors, and when the dollars aren't there, Nascar isn't there. It's not just the economy that is keeping fans away, but until France gets his head out of the sponsor's ass....it wont change...oh and helton needs to quit saying that the cot is safer...we get it...but couldn't the car have been tested more, and refined more, and the improvement added to another, more racier style of car, less like a tank?? And now the Nationwide car is going to that style, bad show.
