I am going with the positive. Last winter there was many predictions of fields of less then 43 cars and fans would not be able to afford to go to the races.

Considering the economy I think things went pretty well.

People ask me all the time, where does he stack up, comparatively?  I’ve seen every great driver drive, I’ve seen every great driver win their championships.  In my mind, this driver, this crew chief, this team is the all time best - bar none.  I saw Petty, I saw Earnhardt, I’ve seen Gordon, I’ve seen Bill Elliott, Rusty Wallace, Terry Labonte, this is the best.”- DW on Jimmie Johnson

Definitely the domination of Hendricks Racing, Jimmy Johnson and Chad Knouse. It makes me wonder if Jeff Gordan realized he was sabotaging his own future by bringing Johnson to the team.

Ran across this article, I really liked it because it's almost entirely from Jeff's perspective: http://www.scenedaily.com/news/articles/sprintcupseries/Jeff_Gordon_has_no_regrets_about_discovering_Jimmie_Johnson.html

"Gordon, though, laughs at the notion that he started the era of Johnson's dominance era in NASCAR.

"I definitely don't take that much responsibility," Gordon said when asked about unleashing Johnson. "I'm very proud of what that team's accomplished, and I'm proud to have been a part of it from the beginning. It's a bittersweet thing because as a driver, we won the championship in '01 when they ran their first race. They watched us finalize and win that championship in '01, and I think maybe in '02 I finished ahead of him in points. I don't think I've finished ahead of him in points since then.

"It just reminds me of when the 24 team [of Gordon] came together and the people that made that happen. How it came together and how it clicked and all the right things happening, it reminds me a lot about that, so I'm happy for those guys being able to be a part of something like that."

Did I log into the wrong forum? I could swear there's still a race left. I'm kind of forgetful, but I'm pretty sure just a couple races ago Jimmie was wrecked on lap 3. I'd love to see Jimmie blow up or get wrecked and lose it. Not because I don't want to see him win, but just to say na-na to those that say it's over! raspberry

I said it before, as long as Keselowski and Hornish and Robby are on the same track, ANYTHING can happen. Heck just look at the starting lineup. Scott Speed is outside Jimmie for the start. Looking at practice, the high line is the place to be, good chance Speed will get by Jimmie on lap 1. Mark's right behind Speed. Jimmie could very easily get aero loose on low tire pressure trying to get 5 points for leading. Don't believe me, think it's far-fetched? Ask Hornaday how it went for him at Phoenix last season on lap 1.

Until the race is over, I'll reserve judgment.

cool smile A realist. How refreshing. Earlier in the week a possible 43rd place finish for the 48 had to be explained in monosyllables.

Jimmie has the choice of which lane he'd like to take.

No offense to Hornaday, but he and Jimmie drive nothing alike.

Haven't you gotten the slightest bit tired of hearing "Anything can happen..." ?
