So now that its all over, what do you think was the biggest story of the season...SHR, Mayfield, Kez/Denny, Drivers with no wins, Boring races...

Lots to like, lots to b*tch about.

Biggest story:

Declining ratings, declining tickets sales and yet NASCAR does nothing to stimulate fans interest. No acknowledgment by NASCAR that there is an issue either.

You sure?

“We will look at some things in the offseason going into Daytona to see if we can make the car and the racing better than it is now,” France said.

NASCAR will review its testing moratorium annually and eventually hopes to open up testing at some tracks that play host to NASCAR national touring series events.

Hands down, the domination of HMS... they've found something no one else has... Gibbs, Roush, RCR, et all didn't lose speed, HMS GAINED speed, and dominated to a point that JJ will get his 4th title in a row, which is equally the biggest story of the year...

shrub and jr... no chase for them... there, I put them both in a post, too... nyuk, nyuk, nyuk

Definitely the domination of Hendricks Racing, Jimmy Johnson and Chad Knouse. It makes me wonder if Jeff Gordan realized he was sabotaging his own future by bringing Johnson to the team.

Two biggest stories have not happened yet.
1> Jimmie getting 4 in a row
2> Danica's announcement in early December

The biggest story hasn't been mentioned yet.
The 88 car made a decision to deviate from the successful setups and go a fundamentally different direction than the rest of the team.
While Eury ended up getting removed, who really made the decision that ruined Dale Earnhardt Jr's 2009 season?

Was it Eury Jr or Dale Jr?

Second story came out of Dover when Biffle griped about Johnson getting a huge advantage because JJ tested tires there. Turn that statement around and it means Biffle can't get the advantage when he tests tires the way Johnson does.

Lastly, the third media story is about the media not having a clue what "tolerance" and "close" meant when it came to the 5 and 48 cars being declared legal but close to the limits of tolerance. How can anyone report on something when they don't know what the information means?

Mayfield or Carl Long aren't the BIG story of 2009? For all the posts that went on forever about either or both, I thought those two topics would be THE MOST IMPORTANT!

biggest story of the season.. Marcos Ambrose getting loose on the inside of Jimmie Johnson coming off turn 4 lap 1 and knocking Jimmie into the wall backwards, tearing out the rear end housing... Mark Martin driving to a 4th place finish and his first championship.

big story right there.. huge

even bigger- Jimmie Johnson getting out of his car and kicking the crap out of Marcos on the track.. setting up 2010 for it's biggest ratings year ever
