It was a charity event not a race to see who is the best racer in the world.

This was no different than an exhibition kart race the wednesday before a GP.

To someone who has never done anything, it probably did seem much more momentous than it really was.

And the track still looked like it was desgned for a vintage MX event.

I think it would be fun to watch but will not happen anytime soon.

Here is the problem with all these ideas of year end fun races. When a car racer crashes into a barrier in one of these "fun" events everyone cheers and some one has to do a little work on the car. When a motorcycle racer crashes there is a very real possibility that they will not come away from it whole, even in the most innocuous of crashes.

Do you think Yamaha really wants to jeapordize there already limited testing schedule with Rossi getting hurt in a race that has no pratical value other than it would be kinda cool?

Now, wash rinse and repeat for every top 4 finisher in every series.

Too much risk, too little reward.

Your own words...

The event AS YOU DESCRIBED IT ("fun races", "When a motorcycle racer crashes there is a very real possibility that they will not come away from it whole, even in the most innocuous of crashes", "a race that has no pratical value other than it would be kinda cool")... is EXACTLY WHAT WENT ON LAST WEEKEND. Exactly. Your words to Rossi's ears, and the event fits your words to a T.

Ohhhhh, except the part where what you describe is not realistic.

Really, you have no way out of this one. Take your pill little boy and stop squirming.

You do know that Rossi and everyone else practices on MX bikes, SM bikes, ride karts on occasion, race cars, go sky diving, maybe even have unprotected sex, right?

You think that a track day is the equivalent to a race, so, I am not surprised that you fail to see the difference to a charity event and an actual race.

Graziano wasn't listed in the results for any of the races, so I doubt he ran. He was present at the event though.

They had advertised him as a competitor, which I thought a little odd - he must be mid-50s by now.

Scwhantz was there and he has to be getting dangerously close to 50, but, he has the main ingredient that makes him a perfect candidate for the charity event... a name.

Schwantz is younger than me - I think he's around 44.

I think its a wonderful thing that these guys take the time to do this. I am sure that they were not going balls to the wall so am to avoid injury. Had I lived with a hundred or so miles of this event I would have gone and cheerfully threw money into the bin for the kids.

Seriously your debating the virtues of watching a charity event? Listen to yourselves. Get out there and do some good and stop being so selfish!

I don't think anyone is debating the merits of a charity event.

Mostly RR and ND like to argue with each other.

Right, read your quotes above. Explain to me how the type of event you described (be it a "meaningless" "fun race" or a "charity event") took place when you said it couldn't?

Just do that. Dont try to change the subject or anything else. Stick to telling us how an event where even an "innocuous crash" could result in a rider "not coming away from it whole" took place this weekend, despite your insistence that it could not. Nothing more, nothing less.
