hey guys... can't you just give USF1 and Lopez a chance? I must insist, most of you only know JML has raced in GP2, one pole, one victory and stuff in two years, but he is really skilled (ask Fernando Alonso about him) and he may give a good surprise.
Also, he has recently visited USF1's headquarters at Charlotte, and he said he's really surprised with the team's professionalism (words by the test driver of Renault during their best years, 2004-2006)
let's give them a chance

I'm argentinean, our driver is very close to sign for your team, what about just supporting the whole structure? would be nice to deal well between all of us
cheers!

This guys can't get it!
Don't worry about it, like I said if he gets the chance the car has to be decent for him to excel, if that is the case this fellas will have a different look.
I just said that without going into politics or racism.

Hi everyone!
This is my first post in this forum and I have also been following José María López career for several years since I am Argentinean too.
I understand the point of some guys stating he did not get great results at GP2 and hasn’t been driving and open wheel car after 2006 season.
However, let me tell you as other people already say Pechito has over 9000 miles on a Formula 1 (including the World Champion car of 2005 and 2006 season). He was in charge of all 2006 Renault F1 shakedowns and some other tests with the rest of the teams on track. I do not think a World Champion team would have given such development assignments to a driver who is not able to provide a good feedback or obey to the testing needs…
Regarding his results on GP2 as some else stated, he was very fast on those cars and yes, he had some mistakes. Knowing Pechito the problem neither Dams nor Super Nova provided great rides (I won’t even try to compare against Hamilton’s ART or Piquet Jr car since I am not that sure those were real GP2 cars…) and he would not stand to lose. I recognize that as a defect since you need to take the best of what you have and when you try to go faster than possible problems happen. But that is part of José’s nature! He knows he can be as fast as anyone else (held record on GP2 test track Paul Ricard over 2 years in a place where all teams matched their possibilities because of having previous experience and time to test) and even that is something he has been getting better during the last few years here in Argentina. A driver can learn how to slow down at 26 but I think it would be impossible to happen the other way around.
Anyway… that is my opinion and I invite you to check José’s progress next year if finally USF1 gets on track and Pechito gets one of the seat, I am sure you will not be as mad as you are right now about him. There is a lot of history behind López (as any other driver I guess, but this one is the one I really know well) and I am confident he will deliver according to expectations.

^ Kobefly, welcome to the boards. Nice first post.
If he drives for USF1, hopefully he'll be a Buemi/Kobayashi who shines brighter in F1 than he did in the ladder series.

Absolutely. Also, I think you will like his agressive driving style
