Um No. I love to watch writers get caught up in the moment and get carried away. JJ is good, no doubt. The greatest? Funny stuff.

He'll never be better than Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt or David Pearson. I guess that leaves 4th as high as he can get which would still make him ONE OF the greatest of all time.

Seriously, he's a good driver, with a really good CC, on a super team. They are taking full advantage of the way the game's played and will in all likely win #4 Sunday. Not bad, but c'mon the Greatest Ever? When JJ puts together a couple of RC wins, adds a few Bristol wins, and wins a few races with someone other than Knaus as CC, as all the other greats have done these things, then we can talk about this. Until then......

I don't know if right now he can be rated with the greats. They proved they coudl do it with different Crew Chiefs and they had to do it for the full year. I would rate the team (JJ and Chad) as the best there is now but as far as just a driver I would have to see him with a different Crew Chief to see how he does then. I don't think we will see that as why would someone want to break up an outstanding team? I don't think Rick Hendrick is that dumb.

Just saw that Thorstar said basically the same thing about the different Crew Chief.

I know a couple scenarios that could break up the dynamic duo:

After his , hmm lets go for 10th unsuccessful trip through post race tech, NASCAR finally takes a stand and gives Chad a permanent suspension.

Someone offers either JJ or CK more money than even HMS could come close to. For example, NASCAR could use a functional mind like Chad's in either their engineering department or the officiating crew.

I look at it this way:

Petty (200 wins, 26 in one season, 7 championships)
Johnson (Only driver with 4 straight, only driver that was a rookie of this decade to have 45 plus wins in one series, lowest points finish was 5th, nearly won 2003 and 2004 championships, five seasons of five or more wins in a season, won four straight races)
Earnhardt (Won four championships in five years, 7 championships)
Gordon (13 wins in a season, won three championships in four years, four championships total)

Before I get jump by a Earnhardt fan, I'm one too.
