..Ohh and furthermore ha, ha. Adding fuel to the Merc driver line-up 'surprise' rumors --Articles and blogs suggest that Mercs other prayer is our fan nightmare; that failing to land Schumacher .. Mercedes GP hopes Renault will pull-out and that they can snag Robert Kubica.
This would be the final savior for the new factory-team in making a stunning debut (imho) -- (Merc Probably hoping they can land a panic-stricken Kubica for a song and a dance) like 3 mil or something. -- (IRL Indycar wages).
Some rumors also suggest that Renault needs another 30 m (to possibly replace ING money) in order for them to continue in F1.. and that they are waiting to see how FIA handles Toyota vis-a-vis semi-shock pullout., before they decide to pull-the-plug themselves.
Personally ,I hate to root for FIA -- but in this case I hope FIA lay a heavy fine on Toytota for signing the Concorde Agreeement
and then misleading the racing public regarding their true intentions; and for further dashing the dreams of a youngster; possibly sending Japanese future star Kamui Kobayashi back to work at his father's Sushi restaurant.
I hope the fine from FIA is severe enough to make Renault think twice about pulling out.. they should honor their commitment to the Concorde Agreement; and sometimes it is only fiscal threats which force companies to behave honorably --
If I'm out of line here; and that is very possible; (not having followed Concorde policy so closely) Please someone feel free to straighten me out.
Bottome-line.. I hope Renault makes the grid and Merc
doesn't get Kubica. They don't deserve him..

I read a $60M fine for (Concorde Agreement) contract breach being rumored on the internet forums.
Considering what Toyota sank in each yr in the past, they'd swallow that.
The question for me :
Is it or is it not a big deterent for car manufacturers like Renault to take the hit on and bail anyway ?

IF that rumor is correct, I'd say probability of Renault bailing is greater than 50%

We are getting a bit off topic here but I read (sorry cant remember where so dont have a link) a few days ago that Renault were looking at an outside investor, and were in discussions with a Russian investor interested in buying a minority stake c40%, which would result in Petrov driving the second car.

You would have to back Petrov if Renault came up with another 'Tank'.

The car wasn't being developed except for 1 week in July and that development in braking stability helped Rubens more than it did Jenson. In the meantime, other teams were catching up in development on the DD diffuser.
The fact that he maintained his gap lead without folding (psychlogically) under those conditions should be given a wee bit of credit, even from his haterz.
No I don't, he had built enough of a lead when the car was vastly superior that he could maintain the lead through out the rest of the season. Not being able to win a single race in the last 10 speaks much louder IMO...
