. . . As Kimi did not meet the minimum requirements,The FIA would only grant him a temporary provisional super licence and made Sauber run him for a half day test to evaluate his performance prior to granting that. . . .

Kimi had to take that test before approximately 10 judges. After the test, all but one of them voted to grant him the license. Here's a little quiz for you all--who was the lone voter against Kimi and why did he vote "no"?

Max Mosley because Kimi didn't have enough experience and would be a hazard to other drivers. smile

Yeah it was Max Mosley. The hero who saves us all from all sorts of disasters. The Great Oracle.

I have to say I think if you take that "sleepy" thing away from Kimi, he will not be as strong as he is. You have to let him be like that. I guess Ferrari thought they can change him, or have to, and they were wrong, imho.

Did you notice how Jenson started to crack under pressure? He insisted he is not cracking under pressure. Then we heard several times his desperate voice talking on the radio. Imho he was cracking under pressure. He admitted in some interview he was thinking all the time about F1 when he was at home. This sort of a pressure problem will never happen with Kimi - once the race weekend is over he forgets it and does something completely different. The result is the pressure cannot rise. It is one of his greatest strengths and only a fool will try to take it away from him. Let him be the way he is, support him like Todt did in 2007, and you have an extremely strong driver.

Also, I saw several comments from members of the Ferrari team saying "Kimi doesn't speak Italian". Were they really expecting him to learn Italian? Does it make sense to expect he would learn Italian as he changes teams? Italian is a very different language compared to his native language.

It's like the people in the Quebec in Canada who were getting pissed off because an NHL player Saku Koivu didn't speak French in the interviews often. He was the captain of the Montreal Canadiens, but fortunately he is now in Anaheim, California, together with Teemu Selänne, away from the whiny speak-French-to-me-or-else people. How arrogant can they be? That looked extremely whiny to me, and what the Italians were doing with Kimi looked the same, whining about Kimi not speaking Italian. I guess now they can be happy as both of their race drivers speak Italian.

OK, rant over.

Close. It was a panel of 24, not 10, and the vote was 23-1. Mad Max voted "no," explaining that, if Kimi caused an accident and injured someone or something, it would be he, Mad Max Mosley, who would have to answer to the press.

I have to say I remember that and in fact I guessed beforehand that Mosley will vote against giving him a super license. Because of his talks about safety, I guessed he will see he has no other choice than to vote against it.

I didn't realize that I was supposed to correct the facts I was given. Can you please post cute Kimi photos as my prize?

As for comparing attitudes, Jense was defending his lead in the WDC whereas Kimi didn't have anything to lose in 2007, which is why he was under pressure and Kimi wasn't. However, Kimi's attitude will be missed especially considering how hard he was driving in the second half of the season.

Well, that's the ride the Robertsons got him first... with psychic skills... they didn't know each other yet at the time.

FUNNY how times change and it's all of a sudden OK to plug in some kid with NO testing and stick em on the grid rolleyes

Kimi, I sure hope you do whateverthehell you want next year. Much as I'd miss your presence in F1, you already left a mark upon the sport which will never fade.
If it were still the 70's era none of these asinine speculations would have come about, poor kid, genius driver, stuck in an era of political foolishness, self interested governance and sponsorship whoring for your dinner. I doubt even Hollywood could have come up with a sport so crass and hypocritical.

The fastest driver since Clark, gets paid not to drive, in a series which is supposed to be about the pinnacle of man/machine performance.

Take the time off heal up from the beating that GeeBee of an F60 laid on you, and come back if and when you want to.

If Brawn comes a courting, do your negotiations with Haug not Ross, and squeeze em till they bleed. smile
