CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NASCAR has asked a federal court to stop lawyers for suspended driver Jeremy Mayfield from collecting information from the ex-wife of chairman Brian France.
Mayfield's attorneys subpoenaed Megan France last week requesting documents about a lawsuit filed against her by Brian France. The attorneys also asked for joint tax returns and mail addressed to Brian France.
NASCAR filed a motion in U.S. District Court on Monday asking that Megan France be barred from producing the documents.
The Frances were divorced in April 2008, and Brian France sued his ex-wife in North Carolina Superior Court in September of that year. All documents relating to that case were sealed in December.

Thanks for the link RW. This is likely the reason why BF wants the records sealed.
This action by Mayfield's attorneys is really outrageous. It has absolutely nothing to do with the Mayfield case. BF doesn't drive a racecar. He is in no way similarly situated with Mayfield. This is pure harassment.

I am unsure of the timeline here, but was Brian's drunken joyride across Florida before or after the divorce?

“You know, Brian France out there talking about effective drug policy, it’s kind of like Al Capone talking about effective law enforcement”.

Not sure if this is the reason why or just payback from JM. BF should have stayed with Fla. courts.

Perhaps then, similar behavior could be the basis for the divorce... which would give reason for Mayfield's attorneys to want access to the court documents.
Just trying to see
if any of the dots can be connected.

It's a slimy business. This is standard operating procedure ... akin to harrassment of rape victims.
Better than the "my boyfriend/tranny/midget" Springer episode.

What reason?? If you recall, BF admitted that he had been drinking that night (which does not mean that he was intoxicated beyond the legal limit) and there was no DUI charge by Daytona Beach Police.
For the sake of this discussion, even if he was intoxicated, which we have no proof that he was, and even if he was cited for DUI, which he was not, what the heck does that have to do with JM being found to be under the influence of a banned substance while driving a race car?

BS FLAG!!! B S FLAG!!! BS FLAG!!! B S FLAG!!! B S Flag!!!excuse me, but if these attempts to find out if BF is a hipocrit who routinly drove impaired in public, but JUST GOT CAUGHT ONCE (Drunk drivers almost always drive frequently, just cought once or twice), then I'd say it has a lot to do with many things, PUBLIC SAFETY BEING NUMBER1!!!
you breezing away that fact in blind defense of BF cannot go un-challenged, sorry...
