1/8 mile is like a quickie with a slump buster.

At first I was against 1/8th mile, but now I kinda like it, but only when the ADRL does it. It's neat that you really can't run those cars a 1/4 mile. Plus Kenny's no dummy, its as much about marketing as it is safety, the 1/8th mile makes ADRL stand out. That being said its stupid when the IHRA does it, because they CAN run a 1/4 mile so its just a gimmick, but there won't be an IHRA come next summer so the point is moot.
As for 1000ft, its stupid. It neuters the racing and does nothing for safety. A terrible knee-jerk reaction and typical over regulation by the NHRA. 1000ft takes away from any top-end passing (which does exsist, dont let the apologists tell you otherwise) and leads to just as many (if not more) breakages since teams are running the cars harder. Plus having cars running two separate race courses at the same event is a joke. 1000ft racing is why I no longer follow the NHRA, and thus don't post here anymore.
If they go back to real drag racing, or go like ADRL and let them go hog-wild but run 1/8th mile, I'll go back, but if not, they will continue to see the dwindling attendence they have now.....

I agree with you 120% on the 1000' rule. I haven't watched 5 minutes of NHRA since, and have not been back to Norwalk.

IHRwhat? I remember there use to be an IHRA that was relevant. That was a long time ago.

I've only watched one race since May, and that was Indy, because I watch it every year (Even when I boycotted the IRL during the CART/IRL war, I watched the 500), and this year was the first in over a decade that i skipped Reading, and according to my old man, attendence was way down.
As for the IHRA, my hope is that when it dies next year, the AHRA gets its tracks....

B: Drag racing is not defined by distance. (That's a quote from someone you respect, I promise)
C: Attendance has nothing to do with 1000'. It's doing great in some places and hurting in others. Mostly where the economy is showing.
D: IHRA didn't have a choice, specifically in San Antonio.
E: I've got some entertaining news on Tricky Ricky, you need to catch me on aim or FB.
