What do you all think about the Super-car Life Racing Team in the Rolex Series introducing a Ferrari engined Daytona Prototype for 2010?? They have been hinting several times in this year that they have one in development, and that it's coming along nicely. I really hope this projects takes off big time so that Ferrari's interest is peaked once again in Prototypes racing!
If it does appear in 2010, then it would mark the first year in over 10 years that we have seen a Ferrari engine in a prototype. The last one I remember was the open cockpit 333SP. That was a cool car, and sad to see it go. However! This new Ferrari Daytona Prototype should be a nice return. Even though it is not a factory backed car. Any thoughts welcome, but please tread lightly.

Is "meh" an option?
I certainly don't mind seeing it (and might if it's ready by Lime Rock), but it reminds me of the Dyson Spice-Ferrari car of the early WSC era - more a cobbled-together solution than a proper prototype. Seems a bit like putting one in a Sprint Cup car. If it starts displaying any sort of superiority, it will be emasculated, anyway (see Porsche). GA's management values parity above all else.

A DP is a prototype in name only.
That aside, I really wanted SuperCar Life to win at Homestead; it looked like they had a chance for a while. if they can come back with Ferrari power and challenge the big three (Telmex-Ganassi, gainsco, and SunTrust) I am all for them.

Thread lightly when your last thread was a slam against another series?

It would be great to see a Ferrari powered prototype because I'd love to hear it when I go to NJMP this year. It'd probably give the series some sort of a boost.

As much as the Porsche V8 did in the series I foresee.

People who would care about a Ferrari motor wouldn't care about Grand Am, which puts that Ferrari motor in a chassis Ferrari would have scrapped in the mid-Sixties.
People who care aboiut chassis, bodies, motors ... cars in general ... watch ALMS, where actual prototypes race.
That's the long version of HugeWally's post, I believe.

Ferrari will make a bigger splash with the Ferrari GT cars being built for Grand-Am.

But Grand Am won't let them win. They will be Porshced so the American cars can win.
