And the problem becomes how do you sell a sponsorship with no deal in place? It's a catch-22. Going to companies and saying we would like to host a race, but we have to have a sponsor first...... is a hard way to sell something.

Yet they made that happen with the moto GP event. They had a lot going for them. They are famous as a track for bikes. They had the big superbike event. They had hosted Moto GP before. There was no Moto GP race in the US at the time. The manufacturers very much wanted a US race. (It's a good thing because it cost millions to up grade the track saftey to MototGP standards.) There's a very large hardcore sportbike fanbase. WAY larger than for Indycars actually. And there's the real catch. ICS is just not popular enough among fans or possoble sponsors for LS to make the effort. They have a full lineup of successful events, they don't need ICS. If Indycar wants to race there, they are the ones who are going to have to find the sponsor and make it worth SCRAMP's effort. Thems the sad facts folks, and it's going to be awhile before that changes.

I think the only way the ICS finds LS a sponsor is if a sponsor calls and ask's them to take it to LS......... I highly doubt that the ICS will be beating the bushes for a sponsor for a 3rd race in California.

To be honest, LS is a bit down the list of places I would like to see them go to.

If there was a big company, based in Montery, I could see some idea taking shape, but I don't think there is. However, it is MAZDA RACEWAY, so big companies don't have to live there.
