Is there going to be ANY sign of hope that people who don't have Versus anymore will be able to watch Indycar next year?

I was mad that I had to miss the final races ever since Direct TV pulled the channel off.

Anyone know anything? I don't want to miss 2010.

My suggestion is get cable or switch to Dish. Direct TV and Comcast are at an impass on carrying the channel and it will not likely be fixed before the start of next season if then.

Direct and Comcast both screwed the pooch on this.

Please explain why it is not likely? The new season is 4 months or so away. Do you have "inside" information?

Problem is I just moved and therefore pay a penalty for dropping direct TV, my only other option right now is Time Warner Cable and those guys are out and out incompetent crooks.

Fios is coming but its only in a few neighborhoods now.

Nothing I can say publicly for fear of losing my job. Just know that the sides are very very far apart on what they are willing to deem acceptable.

For those who have Directv (especially their HD) and have seen or dealt with cable or Dish, in the past, the switch isn't that easy to make. This Directv/Comcast feud is not enough to make the switch, at this time. Why no one seems to fault Indy Car for partnering Versus, with their limited reach (even before the DTV/Comcast flap), is rather baffling, imo.

Because no other network was interested in the rest of the Indycar season outside of the 500, so they had to go somewhere and Versus just happened to be that somewhere.

No network was interested in paying Indy Car. That's the correct answer. They had two options. Pay to be seen or get paid to be seen by no one, relatively speaking. They chose the latter.

Actually Versus had a wider subscriber base than Speed.

Don't worry. Comcast may buy the GE/NBC networks. They will tell DirecTV - you want to carry our networks like MSNBC, Bravo, etc..? Then you better carry Versus too!

Yeah, I am not dropping Directv just for VS. I had cable before, not going back there. Directv is usually the first to add new channels and the first to add their HD versions when they become available. For example, The Mtn is starting the HD version of their channel next Saturday afternoon for football. Directv already has it setup and has the prgramming on their grid. They were one of the first to add VSHD as I remember a year or two ago. ESPNU on HD is not on yet, little curious as to the holdup on that one, but all in all Directv gets you the channels and new channels and new HD before anyone else. I'll side with Directv on this one. I think is was probably a pretty ludicris deal VS came up with for DTV to drop them. And as far as IndyCar, I watched the whole season, was disappointed not to be able to see the last two races. But when you deal with bush league companies (Comcast/VS), you get bush league deals and that might make you, well .... bush league.
