Ross Brawn has expressed surprise at the news that USF1 has not yet commenced internal crash testing of car components.

Did the USF1 Mangement realize just how deep they were in?

Maybe not.

The angle with selling the grid spot is interesting.

Why did I not think of that a year ago? Rats...

And that brings up a very good question, with Mr. Peter Windsor still working with the SpeedTV folks, and the FIA folks, should he not be concentrating more on his livery into the 2010 season?

Or was the entire attempt, of the USF1 Team, a charade until this point in time?

Nothing like playing the general population for some more coin.

If all this theory is true, I am somewhat disappointed.

Not in the meager attempt to start a Formula One Team on Peter Windsor's behalf.

I am disappointed in myself, for believing in the fact that they could do that.

Time will tell.

When I first read this report on another forum it gave me cause for concern, as I certainly do not want to see USF1 fail. I can only hope that they will recover any lost ground and keep up with their scheduale.

i love what brawn did this year but he needs to shut his pie hole considering he stole his team for a song n dance from honda after they (not ross)spent millions developing that car by the way i hvnt heard of any other start up team crash testing either

Spent many decades investing large sums of $ in people with ideas for new businesses. Heard Anderson, would not have received 1cent from me or probably anyone else. Fuzzy words, lack of coherence. Brawn, Briatore, Dennis, another league. Let BMW have it.

My reaction to the matter is simply this: When has Ross Brawn ever been on a MODERN F1 team when it was a new startup operation? The answer is never. The guy's got a lot of insight as to what needs to be done to make a competitive car and team right now, of this there can be no doubt, but having never had experience with a team that had no resources less than a year ago, I can't put the same stock in his assessment as I would if a team that's been around a season or two was late getting to the game on this matter.

I severely doubt crash testing requires as much time as he implies if your only goal is to make the grid in 2010. If you want to be competitive, that's another matter.

In short: If USF1 can meet the rolling chassis timeline they have set publicly, then being late to crash testing will not prevent them from making the grid next year.

Not on it's own, at least.

FormulaFox,

You bring up a very good point here.

Did the Brawn Team of 2009, have any crash testing done before their introduction in Australia?

From what everyone understands, this Team, and cars, were put together 2 months before the beginning of the season.

Was that 2009 car crash tested outside of those 2 months?

If not, why is Mr. Brawn calling out the USF1 Team?

Good point.

I'm surprised Brawn has'nt signed his drivers yet.

Maybe Ross should worry about that and not what another team is doing.

I would suspect that Ross Brawn is in a much better position to know the value of crash testing, especiaally since the car must pass some ridgid FIA inspections. The insights of Ross Brawn are far more relevant than the speculations we do here.
