not exactly easy to watch.
Wow, that kind of emotional release is why I LOVE motorsports. Makes #####*n back and forth about the DMG seem kind of small and silly.
Thanks for posting the vid ND and thanks for this thread guys, I'd never even heard of this story before.

ND, Joey Dunlop ran the British GP on a 250 in the mid-80's and took 10th, which I thought was pretty damned good for guy that doesn't even drag his knees!
(but yeah, not too many 'true road racers' have made the jump in recent history)

I have to admit, that was a less than impressive reply.

He also raced in the first 3 rounds of the 1988 WSBK seaon and fished 3rd at Donnington Park and had a 6th in Hungary ,and also was 5th and 7th in Germany on a Honda RC30 .

I didn't remember that - guess he was no slouch on a closed circuit.

The fact that the best road racer ever only managed to achieve 1 podium in his closed circuit career pretty much makes my point.
Of course, the flip side is that you take the typical world level closed circuit racer and put him on a true road course and he is going to get mauled mid pack as well.

That's if you can get him to leave the pits after the first practice lap!

To be honest, I do not even like watching road racing.
It makes me a little sick seeing everything I would hit.
