Kimi is out of his freaken mind if he sits out. What will his value be in a year? Who would he drive for? He has been fired by Ferrari and I am sure McLaren and Brawn are less than impressed by his demands.

I am a long time Kimi fan but it is easier to find a driver then to get a top team.

The question is does Kimi really still want to drive F1. If so sign on the dotted line and get to it. If not take a year off and enjoy it. The 2 million difference is nothing it all boils down to will Kimi get what he wants. Rally time and few apperances.

farob and dcomisey are right folks. Hamilton has nothing to do with who and who does not race at Mclaren. They want results from 2 drivers at Hamiltons level as a business. Also, if ANY f1 driver sits out...they lose. It is impossible to stay on top of F1 ability if you leave the sport. Quite a few people have commented on the 'apperance' and lack of motivation of Kimi. Many correctly have pointed out that it is because of perception and culture rather than fact. Points taken and correct. But this documented episode, for me, demonstrates his lack of motivation to be involved in F1 racing. 2 million $ is nothing for his contract amount. Notice I did not say lack of desire for RACING...just F1 racing. He obviously enjoys rally. I cannot fault him..none of us, as far as I know, have been a F1 driver at the top..and the travel, the demands, the bull****, the politics would have to wear you down disillusion you at some point. Maybe he is there...I can't say..but I sure would like to see him keep racing F1, for me, he is one of the 4 musketeers!

Once again the reports come around again to support what I ahve been saying. Although these numbers are a lot more conservative than what I believe. I reckon that he makes a lot more than 17mil by not racing its got to be at least 20-25mil.

New Percentages:
Kimi not racing in F1 for 2010: 90%
Kimi at Mclaren 10%

Come on Kimi, don't you want to be around for the sparks when Alonso and Massa get going? Don't you want to see Schumacher run for cover? Sign Kimi, sign sign sign...

Come on McLaren, 5 million is an insult to Kimi. Pay him 8 so he makes more than staying home. That's still a bargain for a world champ who won't complain when his car isn't as good as Hamilton's. He'll make that back in Constructors championship largesse.

Raikkonen needs to stay in F1. I personally would like him to take the McClaren seat and give Hamilton a run for his money. I think that driver equality may be one of the reasons he is hesitant to go back.
