Sorry. I in a sense put words in your mouth.
My post should say you probably won't like this either then. Saying you won't like it is wrong of me.

Why am I not surprised a couple convicted criminals teams are leading in Spec Cup.?

Hate to be the bearer of more bad news... but the congress bill (passed the house on it's way to the Senate next week) on Cap and Trade will be a racing killer. All of the racing will be affected by this bill.
Think the stimulus was bad, this one will knock racing into the dirt.
Racing will become twice to three times (or more) as expensive if this thing passes.

The scary thing is, as long as The US Gov't owns 60% of GM, they can do whatever the heck they want. Per Jayski who updated the 'story', 2010 is safe.
My bet though, is GM is done, a dead man walking. I'm going to stick to what I wrote earlier, if GM gets yanked to promote 'climate change,' racing as a whole is in serious jeopardy.
I hope I'm wrong, but the way things are going, who knows what lies next for us...
Let's say I'm partially correct, GM cancels it's racing ties and motorsports due continue on. I wonder if Hendrick would buy the manufacturing rights off of GM to produce the RO7 heads and blocks if the proverbial plug was pulled? That way Hendrick could keep what was known as the Chevy engine in competition, not have to change his entire fleet of racing machines, and possibly sell/lease his motors to other race teams. Hendrick could then have an engine manufacturing firm very similar to a Cosworth or Ilmor.

It happens because the other people have gone out and forgotten to close the door, leaving behind a huge mess that somebody else has to clean up.
I couldn't agree more. Thanks Gdub! Solving the problems created & left by the last "Prezz" is alot more difficult than Super Speedway issues!!!

$125M of stimulus money went to NASCAR and race tracks so there are politicians in DC fighting for racing. The Cash For Clunkers was just pissing away $3B because people just traded in their old cars for new gas guzzlers or foreign models.
Track owners received a 100 million dollar tax cut to boot! Poor track owners, they didn't even have a "clunker" to trade in!

The factories pulled out of racing in the early 1970s. Throughout the rest of that decade it was the teams and outside vendors that came up with all the parts and pieces to go racing. I do not see a problem if it should go back to that.

No problem at all. Factory support is nice but not completely necessary. Fabricators today can build those things front to back. The biggest loser would be NASCAR and tracks that get Chevy sponsorship.

I don't want the profits to go back to the far east...
They don't, they go to the company's shareholders. Do you have a mutual fund that invests parts of its capital outside of the US? In all likelihood, then you, like me, have shares in Toyota and Honda...

would you happen to know the name of that bill.. perhaps have a link to anything on it? You've piqued my curiosity.. I'd like to know what you're talking about.
