How did if fall, in the 80s and mid 90s when it was bigger than it ever was under USAC ?
I think the colored glasses remark cuts both ways.
Colored glasses do not blur the facts. All the while that NASCAR was growing, AOWR was shrinking.

Springfieldmile, dont rain on their parade of the past.I agree, Nascar was picking up big time from 1979 on and CART was doing okay contrary to popular opinion of some. Also,Floridatone you say a joke behind the the big 2 in IICS. How is that any different than the big 2 in Nascar of Rousch and Hendrick? How many titles in a row for Jimmie after this year? After this year it will be the 3rd year in a row of ratings going down and somewhat significantly. Just like IZOD has written into its contract about certain metrics. I wonder if their are any in Nascars that might be kicked in before their current ones run out.Also, do you think they will get the same amount with the next title sponsor and TV contract?

I don't need a seeing eye dog. I have seen this decline, hell I have lived through this decline. We have discussed the facts (clear facts at that) to the point of it like beating a dead horse. Those who want to look at things objectively will see the facts and see what really happended and those who don't will believe and post under false pretenses.

Two names,Stewart, Gibbs come to mind, EGR has had some sucess, NExt contract not a chance! couple more clusters like Dega and they will join the IRL on a channel you can't find.

LOL at Earl. CART was doing okay, uh huh. Didn't get to many (any?) CART races back then? CART races rivaled F1, in the early nineties (particularly in '93 when Mansell came over as the defending World Champion. Bernie was worried). NASCAR was gaining but didn't surpass openwheel until '96, when Tony George started his toy series.

As long as she honors that AGR contract and does he best at every ICS race - I could care less if on her off time she's doing some stock car racing.She's just looking out for her which all racers do and she seems to be getting her way which is a person's dream. I know people are worried that losing her means losing something big in the Indycar Series but many things can change in 3 years.
That's my feeling exactly. Besides now with IZOD leading the way & if more drivers are in the public eye as they say they will, in time she will be less of a commodity, especially if she doesn't win another race. I think this stock car thingy will be a distraction to her. Two series to think about plus all the corporate obligations for both sides....whew!! Might feel like being drawn & quartered.

In the IRL, the sex appeal card apparently did not result in a pregnancy. Are you suggesting that the part-time move to NASCAR will change that? Is her husband impotent? Are the men of NASCAR more virile than the boys she's been hanging around with?
Maybe she's without child because she's got balls. Big enough to give it a shot over there right in the face of all the naysayers. She has my support and best wishes for that reason alone.
I'm wondering how that sexy image will pan out over there. Laying across the fender of a stock car looking all that juicy wouldn't set to well with the female fans I'm thinking. I'd say those women could get a little testy with their men salivatng over a smoking hot Danica. JMO
