Alonso: I will be turning point for Ferrari
http://formula-one.speedtv.com/article/f1-alonso-i-will-be-turning-point-for-ferrari/
The Italian press painting an unflattering image of Raikkonen here --
LOL
OK I was wrong. I admit it. He shouldn't have had more hand gesticulations. Kimi should've gone to a tanning parlor and cried more often in public (before and after each race).
Tuttoforte. TuttoFesserie. Andiamo.
PS I hope by turning point, he doesn't mean a return to the pre-1996 era. They had Mansell, Prost, Andretti - all former WDC's in that period - but no WDC.
Perhaps they were expecting a little more emotion. Maybe something like this...

A little Pavarotti is a good way to kick off a Monday with some high drama.
This article rubbishes the 'Raikkonen showed no saddness or emotion' type comments..
Raikkonen: Sad to end my time at Ferrari like this
http://www.crash.net/f1/news/154351/1/raikkonen_sad_to_end_my_time_with_ferrari_like_this.html
I'd posted in another thread some time back, that Raikkonen is often crucified in the Italian media; they just didn't seem to 'get' the guy -- but when I tried to find proof google (for once) let me down, and I couldn't dig up the dirt.
But finally here you see a bit of the way they talked about him in Gazzetta Dello Sport and the other Italian papers.. at least the team itself is being kind and referring to him as an 'Extraordinary driver.'
If it does not go well with 'Zo ..maybe the Italian press will come to appreciate the WDC they got from the Finn.
However; let me go on record in saying that I think the Massa/Alonso Latin-pairing should work.. it will fall to the team to give them the car, the strategy, the team precision & the proper internal-politics in order to make it all gel.

LOL
for sure.
the drivers may talk to the engineers but they don't know every detail and timeline on development - perhaps that's one thing Schumi did that was different ? He was in the factory all the time asking around and educating himself.
No-one would ever accuse Alonso of being unmotivated or not working hard enough but he certainly didn't do the same factory watch as the 7 time WDC. It's unique to him because he used to be a go-kart builder as well as racer and to expect someone else who doesn't have the background to do the same is patently, unfair, frankly.
The thing about Mr Scarborough is that he picks out the details with a trained motorsport engineering eye and perhaps also with some help from others that we aren't aware of including access to the teams. It's aomething us fans can harness in terms of getting the facts. i enjoy his work. It's one part of F1 that's under-reported in the free access media perhaps it presumes to underestimate the fans' intelligence ?
Maybe Alonso didn't want to get the "over-the-shoulder-looking-Owl" nickname...
Although many say that Alonso loves to hang out at the factory and meet everyone.

Yeah and perhaps Kimi was thinking it was more like this....

Get up
And get your grandma outta here
Pick up
Old Jim is workin' hard this year
And baby
Do the things
he says to do
Baby, if you're feeling good
And baby if you're feeling nice
You know your man is workin' hard
He's worth
A deuce
Honey
Don't put your man behind his years
And baby
Stop cryin' all your tears
Baby
Do the things he says to do
Do it !
Baby, if you're feeling good
And baby if you're feeling nice
You know your man is workin' hard
He's worth
A deuce !
Now here's how Kimi should have driven - more like Felipe into the box (Sfighe after Singapore 2008):

LOL. Colorado cafè - Sfighe Felipe & Kimi - is hilarious. And are you telling me we could ever have Jay Leno do that here and the audience be up to speed on F1 ? Nascar maybe. F1 ? not so much...maybe after USF1...one hopes.

Well maybe he gives a Toot...or should I say Tutto..sport ?
Bene
Well, it certainly underlines the notion that drivers may provide subjective impressions to confirm whether the parts do as advertised and what they want but have no clue as to how or when the engineers roll it all out. Sometimes the engineers will roll out a development and its a subtle one not worth telling the driver or the driver doesn't want to know and has other more important jobs at hand to do ?
Wait until some of the fickle over-reactive Italian motorsport Press turn on him when things aren't so rosy.
Anyway, it should be fun to watch next yr as you said.

That picture might explain why Kimi is fighting so hard against sponsorship responsibilities (especially knowing what McLaren already did to Lewis with the Peter Pan thing)

I doubt it would be any worst than what he got from the over-reactive British media.

This is true.
The British press were pullin' for their countryman against Alonso.
The Italian press may consider Schumi's little brother the underdog adopted countryman, maybe ?
Maybe the Italian Press was made for lovin' Alonso and not Kimi ? (Latin style)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7fxN3g5sLw
If they get a 3 car/team grid and Schumi is the third driver, boy, the intramural politics should be fun to watch...
