Ferrari and Alonso

This has been bothering me all season so here comes my therapy...

As a fan of the Maranello gang I am deeply disturbed by their actions of late. I was just speaking with my better half and saying it out loud really opened my eyes to the denial I was in. Quite simply I think Ferrari is doomed by signing FA. I can not see his attitude improving from his past actions at McLaren and Renault.

I really want to continue to be a fan but the fact is that FA is the dog that eventually turns on his owner. Sooner or later he will bite Ferrari and they will be stuck looking for a good driver with a better attitude.

It is a shame they have given up on Kimi like they have. Kimi took a dog of a car and raced til the bitter end. Even after SF abandon him. does anyone think FA would do that? There is no way I can see that. There is no way I can see FA playing well with Massa. Once the trouble starts what will Ferrari do? I see a return to the dark years.

Ok done venting, Good luck Ferrari but I think I'll be changing camps soon, I guess I really have become part of the Formula1 culture, I'll become a fan of the team willing to pay me the most and have no allegiance to any team or driver.

I suspect what you think Alonso has done and what he has actually don't quite don't add up. Why don't you list the horrible things you think he has done.

Hopefully Ferrari will have a clause in the contract which says they can release him at any time, for any reason, without further payment. But after Ferrari pushed MS, and now KR out, I don't care if they ever win another GP. FA is a dog, and is now working for a dog. They deserve each other.

2007 Alonso blocks Hamilton in the pits during Qualifying.

McLaren insiders expect Fernando Alonso to leave the team at the end of this season after a weekend in which his relationship with his team-mate, Lewis Hamilton, was left in tatters, with the British driver admitting last night that the pair were now not on speaking terms. The Spaniard's terrible weekend was capped when Hamilton scored a psychologically decisive victory in the Hungarian grand prix, extending his lead in the drivers' standings to seven points over the reigning world champion. source: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2007/aug/06/motorsports.sport

His recent comment that Renault is the worst car on the grid. His comments about every employer he is leaving, how bad they are how poorly he was treated, etc. He has shown enough for me to never be a fan of any team he is driving for, That's just my take your results and reality may differ, it just pains me to see one of the finest manufacturers in the world sign an (insert expletive here) like FA.

Hope that answers your question/comment Watkins.

BHarvey I am inclined to agree with you, but it is painful to see a team you have followed since the days of Prost disintegrate.

I remember thinking about the same when it was announced that Michael Schumacher would be driving for Ferrari.

How'd that turn out?

Seems like some pretty weak reasons. The whole thing in Hungary was due to Hamilton breaking team orders. Hamiltons win was greatly aided by the 5 spot penalty Alonso earned for his payback. So Hamiltons petty game worked.

The Renault was a lousy car. Alonso was grateful and thanked his team for the time he spent there.

If you want to hate him and Ferrari that is your right.

Just to satisfy my own curiosity, what do you want him to say about the Renault? There's a good chance that it IS the worst car on the grid. He's not ripping the designers or his crew, just saying why the results aren't there. The car is bad. He knows it, Renault knows it, and we know it. Alonso has always spoken well of the Renault staff. His complaints a couple years ago were about Fisi not pulling his weight...which he wasn't. The only problem was at Mclaren, which seems to be a commmon theme for them. Not Alonso.

How is a driver who won back-to-back championships driving under Flavio Briatore moving to Ferrari after Ferrari has been less-than-dominant for a few years anything like what's happening here?

I don't think there will be a problem.

The thing with Hamilton at Hungary was iniated by Hamilton ignoring team orders, he was asked to let Alonso past in order to optimise Alonso's fuel strategy, he refused so Alonso opted to hold him up in the pits.

As to his comments about the Renault, he wasn't the only one saying it. Grosjean was even more vocal about the car, he called it "S**t" on french tv. Even Flavio was vocal about how bad the car was prior to his exit. Whats Alonso supposed to say, the car was cleraly terrible & Alonso was the only one able to do anything with it.

Anyway while critisising the car he was & has been nothing but complementary about the team so I don't see any problems there.

I expect Alonso to come into Ferrari & do what Schumacher did back in 1996 in terms of leading the team & If the Ferrari is a championship contender I'll go on record as saying Alonso will win the Championship.

Another Fred is a cancer thread and still harping about Hungary 2007. Never mind the fact that even RD defended Fred that day saying it was Hammy's fault.
