Can't we just assume that is why they both ran long? It really doesn't have much to do with the question at hand.

The point is how you always attribute somehting extra that is just not there.

And the question at hand is silly because it would not have happenned if Edwards does not squid out. It was all on him.

iirc, colin started choking that win away before the last lap. didn't nicky come from some distance back to catch him on the penultimate lap?

It is kinda fuzzy right now, but, I think they both did somehting like that within the last couple of laps.

They both did their best not to win that race. Colin was better, in that respect, on the day. The rest of the top guys from that year were on crutches.

Edwards ran off on the penultimate lap, Hayden thought he had it in the bag and slowed, Edwards caught him at the last corner and they both panicked and went in too hot.

For once my memory wins...

If he had come to the track ready to go as fast he could everytime I bet he would have managed a few wins, but, he did not. So, instead of learning everytime he rode, he just remained status quoe.

Life-Like-Colin-Doll.

Colin crashed because he made a silly mistake and whacked that throttle before he made it back on track. It could be said that had he raced harder everytime he was on track that situation would have seemed so foreign to him and he would have been able to think a little more lcearly in that situation.

None of Nicky's wins were without some rolling of the eyes.
Nicky dominated both Laguna Seca races ,and The Assen race was dominated by Nicky and Colin . Colin lead most of the Assen race until Nicky forced him into missing the chicane with a couple laps left ,but because they have a short cut run off area at Assen, Colin was able to catch up to Nicky who had thought he had the race in the bag ,and had slown down . For that reason alone I do not feel sorry for Colin in that race ,because at any other track if he had blown a chicane he would have no chance of winning a race .
Gary ,maybe this post helped your memory win !

Nah, that is written in such a convoluted fashion that it is just confusing to me. Remember, I'm an Edwards fan - I remember it quite well.

Funny though, how winters always knows EXACTLY what was going on in Nicky's head during all these races.

Winters, no doubt Nicky could have passed Melandri in the final laps at Valencia in 2005, so why didn't he? I'd love to hear your explanation. Especially since you are one of those who believe he could have passed both Bayliss and Capirossi a year later.
