I was watching TSR yesterday and along the bottom it said that the pro categories in IHRA will be an invitation only, and they won't qualify at all. Did anyone else see or hear about this?

Yeah, it's changing to a two-day 'booked-in' event with only the promise of T/F, AA/D and Nostalgia F/C. P/M and P/S will be up to track owners. Sportsman will stay the same...

Wow. Are the Friday gates unprofitable now for the tracks?
I'm not sure I'm comfortable with invitation-only. How would anyone new get established? By them getting rid of a "trouble maker"?
Even NASCAR thinks this is going too far...

One more nail in their coffin, or perhaps the final nail.

This makes sense....
Invite only racing? Kiss our *** or no runs for you. New guys? forget it.
A three hour time limit? Have you heard of oildowns? What then?
2 Lowest ets get into the "finals"? So bring a good qualiy set up and second place points are yours, heck maybe even the win! You won a peddle fest and actually drove? sorry go home.
Dropping PS and PM makes the most sense of all. Its been the only reason to watch IHRA since the mid 80s. Why keep it?
And I thought the NHRA was the bonehead of the year for honoring 1000ft "records". IHRA has proven me wrong. Bravo. I give'em three months tops. At least they had the decency to drop Nationals from the races. The NHRA should have down that when this 1000ft nonsense started.
On the plus side, ADRL ought to be insane next year, 32 car fields maybe???

Pure & simple it's gonna be a series of booked in shows of "Chicago style" match racing. Forget about points, championships & such foolishness. It's entertainment

For GeneralEnzo71, 32 car fields in ADRL. I'm assuming that's for each category then. If so sweet, i hope that versus shows some more of there races next year then with those car counts.

There is obviously a LOT of influence from Feld's successes with Monster Jam, which runs a similar format to what IHRA is changing to, in this decision. They're not quite the same audiences, however, so it will be interesting to see how it all works out.

The only time the IHRA was relevant was when Bill Bader owned it.
