Pending dissolution of A1GP may be rationale for delayed IndyCar Brazil GP announcement…

CliffC, I got some good news for you. If Brasil does not happen their is still a outside chance of Milwaukee making it back on the schedule for next year. Also, Milwaukee is starting to look like it could be back for sure in 2011. This was according to a Trackside Online e-mail.

The point about Brazil was this was touted as a big money maker for the teams and the series. You know, all that Apex Brazil money and all. Looks like if they hold the race it will be costly at least for the ICS and most likely the teams as well.
Milwaukee may be a great track and have lots of history, but attendance sucks and it's a money loser for the promoters assuming they pay the full sanction fee. And unless the new promoters are willing to pay the back debt both to NASCAR (especially to NASCAR)and the ICS, I doubt the track will host any races of meaning. NASCAR is the money maker for the track and they are not running races (as stated so far at least) until the money owed from the prior promoter is paid.

Well, Milwaukee has new promoters and John Menard is in that group. That bodes well for the IndyCars. Furthermore, I was at Milwaukee 2 years ago and attendence had improved and this past year it was even better.Brasil,is/was a win, win for the league. If they go they get big cash from a sponsor and it could help out the Brazilian drivers. If not it opens up a slot for maybe getting another track on the schedule.they said they were only going to run 17 races.

A Brazilian race is not necessary. I assume they, IndyCar, are only caving into Apex-Brasil's demands and sponsorship money. If this race goes ahead as planned, Interlagos would be more suitable than Rio de Janeiro. Whenever there is talk of adding a new event, it's a street race. I don't mind these street tracks, but please do not oversaturate the schedule with them. The only problem with scheduling a race at Interlagos is having to receive FIA approval. Remember Champ Car's race at Zhuhai, China, was cancelled as they could not receive FIA approval? If not Interlagos or Rio de Janeiro, there's suitable tracks in Curitiba and Brasilia.

Any race the ISC does in Brazil will require FIA approval, not just Interlagos.

Yes it does. Here is their 2010 calander of ISC (and other) events. Notice what's not on it? Not even a "TBA" for Brazil. And NO, I did not edit anything.

Saw this posted elsewhere:
Regarding Brazil, Lewis said two IRL folks were down there now, Terry A was leaving in a few days to go down there also, and that Terry's goal was to bring back the signed contracts with him next Wednesday. Lewis said they had an agreement in principle and that it was just a matter of getting the documents signed. He said that they were running into a "cultural difference" in getting that done in a timely manner.
I get a sense of Deja Vu LOL.

I wonder how they are going to get this race off in time. 3 months is a short window to prepare a street race, promote and sell tickets.
