Rumor control has it [source = OWR pay site] the pending dissolution of A1GP may be [in part] the rationale for the delayed IndyCar Brazil GP announcement... with IndyCar picking up the potentially defunct A1GP race scheduled at Autódromo José Carlos Pace in São Paulo on March 14, 2010.

This thread is merely for your consideration / speculative enjoyment. It is not intended to celebrate the pending end of A1GP or serve in an inflammatory capacity regarding the oft-delayed IndyCar Brazil date/site.

Sounds reasonable but I haven't seen anything factual about it yet.

Too bad about A1GP.

Sao Paulo would be a much better race than a street race. I hope they go there.

Brasil would likely be the most profitable event outside of the 500. Certainly, the plausible international venue.
At this point, I wonder if there is more IndyCar fans in Brasil, than the US.

I doubt this. The IRL management can't think that fast. They have to think and plan for over 18 months before they due anything.

Nope, it took them less than 18 months to FUBAR what they had prior to all the CART defection.

?

Do you mean before they split off of CART, or prior to the CART teams moving to the IRL, ( Penske, Green, Ganassi ) ?

I rather doubt the demise of A1 has anything to do with this unless Indy car is still searching for a track that will host a race, which means everyone else they have talked to said no and the only place left is Interlagos. Talking Terry said funding was in place. Funding was in place for what? To get the teams to Brazil? Or are they having to pay a track too? I thought this was supposed to be some big huge boon to the ICS and the teams. It's beginning to look more and more like smoke and mirrors. If this event had the support of the big deal sponsors like Apex Brazil and the governmnet, why is this taking so long to say where they are racing?

This Brazil event is starting to remind me of CART's "Hawaiian Super Prix". Remember that post-season event that was supposed to run a decade ago and was going to have something like a 5 or 10 million dollar purse? The check bounced.
