The final points..

Both Jon Summerton and John Edwards actually scored 182 points each and won 4 races each but Edwards win because he was runner up more times. Awesome. Two great American open wheel drivers fighting for a champion - that's what I'm talking about.

Unbelievable!!!! That is twice now.

I cannot believe Red Bull dropped him in 2007.
Now its his turn to test in Europe.

He should also get a USF1 test drive.

I'm really disappointed that Simona was unable to win. She got off to such a great start. I was really hoping she would be able to get the prize money and pursue Formula 1 by joining one of the F3 series, or even F2.

Oh well. Congratulations to John.

That's right. Does John Edwards still receive that 2 million dollars (1 million dollars?) or was that just a load of crap?

What will Red Bull be thinking after John got yanked from their developmental program after
2007?

Edwards was the youngest at 13 to win an FIA license in 2004 after winning the Red Bull US
Driver Search final.

Let us review his biography:

Everything I've read suggests that the $1,000,000 prize will still be paid, and $500,000 to the runner-up.

I'm not sure if the coupon can be used in the IRL for either IndyCar or Indy Lights, though. It had only specified ALMS, Grand-Am, GP2, F2, and F3.

Was third going to pay anything? I really wanted to see Simona in Europe and see how good she really was...

I hope they get their dues...the Atlantics field was small this year (VERY small), but those three are all very talented

And what is your opinion about Red Bull
making a mistake after he was dropped
from the Red Bull program after 2007?

I can't blame them for it. Hindsight is 20/20. At the time they released him, it made perfect sense. He wasn't getting results, plain and simple. That's usually a good reason to release a driver.

I suppose Red Bull did rush him along too quickly, but with all the ability he had shown, it probably made sense. Besides, he agreed to do it.

It wasn't working out with Red Bull, so he took a step back, and now he's starting to be successful when he really hadn't been before. Good for him.

I doubt Red Bull give very much thought to it, to be honest. They have so many young drivers, many of whom are performing well in Europe right now. Their F1 team has finally reached a level where they can attract major talent, too, and don't have to rely on the ones they've developed from day one.

What a comedy, John Edwards makes a comeback at age 18. Did anyone think that maybe he was just not up to the demands at such a young age? I imagine that the way he has come through at the end of the year, beating significant competitors (first five cars under the lap record at Laguna Seca), his development is coming along just fine, thank you. Wish him well and follow his progress. You could easily be watching a Formula 1 driver of the future. If he was a euro, there would be plenty of people ready to promote him. The only place that occurs here is in Nascar! It's ok, he'll still do well in spite of being an American.
